Some of you REALLY need to read up a bit before you start making comments like some of these. "Second-tier recruits"? Really? Even just in the last few years, Ariel Turner, Val Nichol, Kiki Jones, and Annie Drews were some of the most highly recruited players in their class. If you want to look farther back, Danita Merlau and Jaclyn Hart were among the top 20 players in their respective classes with Merlau in the top 10. No, they don't consistently get top recruits like PSU, USC, Nebraska, etc., but the girls they have on their team are HARDLY "second-tier." Yes but those were 6 recruits over a span of 8 years! A majority of the girls on the team are/were "second-tier", not top 50 recruits (not second tier ability and not taking anything away from the girls, just saying they were hugely recruited). Hiliary Fox didn't even play club ball until her junior or season year of HS. Cat Rebarchak was barely recruited. Carly Cramer was not recruited really at all. Tiffany Fisher wasn't heavily recruited. Kelli Miller didn't get many looks her sophomore and junior years. Yes Kiki ended up as a good recruit but Dave saw her before she played for Munciana when she played for Team Indiana. The list goes on. You probably understand that players are rarely looked at their Senior year so the senior rankings aren't a good gauge for the great job Dave has done sifting through players. This class is really the first that have been highly touted as a group and has had the hype before just their senior year. Stahl was recruited starting in 8th grade so the point is that, yes Purdue has gotten some highly recruited players before, but never 4 in the same class that are this highly touted.

I agree with Boileron that this is the first class that is highly touted. I mentioned those same exact names in my first post. I loved watching all of those players play and called them First Team All Americans or at least Honorable Mention All Americans. The Shondells and Jewell do an amazing job recruiting and get the players that will work hard and play with pride. They bleed gold and black and nothing is handed to them. Zero players were named in the Pre-Season All Big Ten Team...but they used it as motivation. I am very happy with our current team and the future players to come this coming year.

I am so excited about Purdue's incoming recruits. But, since the last (awesome!) big class was split and went from 8 to 4 red-shirts, I don't know who will actually be playing. Purdue's coaching staff (Dave/Kathy/John) seem to like to really keep people 5 years. (Which I think is great!) They like to develop potential and also like to see high grade averages and players on those academic lists. So, when you have people taking Engineering, 5 years can be normal anyway, even if you are not an athlete. Like our lone 2013 recruit, who red-shirted both because we already had 2 setters in the line-up and for Engineering.
So, out of a possible 9 "Freshman" players, I expect to see Ashley Evans setting/hitting in a 6-2.
But the rest ... so excited just wondering ...

I agree with you that Ashley Evans will be playing next year in the 6-2 offense. I am sure that she has been learning from Davis/Nichol and will be prepared to fill the void at setter. I haven't been able to find any videos on the multiple defensive players that we will be adding to the team...so I don't know if they are better or equal to the defensive corp that we have right now. That is the area that I am most concerned about next year. I think we will have a less trouble finding players that can kill and block. I think that Dannielle Cuttino will most likely redshirt next year since we have so much talent in her position.

3 middles on current roster that will be back - Kierra, Faye, and Kaisley Fisher will be back from injury - then Cuttino will be coming in to make 4

Three MBs. Kiki Jones, Faye Adelaja, and Kaisley Fisher, from Sports Performance, who is a red-shirt Sophomore. But Cuttino brings nice height at 6'3" or more. We'll see if the red-shirt trend continues.

Doesn't Purdue only have 2 middles on the roster? Two healthy in Jones and Adelaja. Fisher lost another year to injury. Will be interesting to see if she can contribute at some point in her career. I don't see Cuttino getting red shirted.

Kaisley has been very unlucky with injuries, but I kind of see her like Anna Drewery. Anna was injured a lot, but regained her confidence her senior year. Next year may be Kaisley's last year (unless she gets an okay for a 6th year). I remember seeing her play during a spring match and she can play well. Danielle Cuttino is a superb player, but I think Dave might save her for later since Kiki will be a senior and Faye was solid for most of the year. What are the requirements for a player to receive the okay for a 6th year of eligibility?

What are the requirements for a player to receive the okay for a 6th year of eligibility? Drey Mingo got an extra year, for Purdue basketball, because she was injured twice (including almost dying!), as well as having to sit out because of a transfer from Maryland. So, it is granted. But, it is a case by case basis for the NCAA to approve. I hope a healthy Kaisley can get a 6th year. She started with Val & Kiki, so Fall 2014 would have been her Senior year. So, she has next year (2015), too. I'm excited that Lydia Dimke and Christina Ambrose have started at Purdue this Spring. If my math is correct (15-5+2) then that means 12 at practices.
