Any predictions on the starting lineup? My mind is/was telling me Vansant, Sybeldon, Nelson, Strickland, and Katy Beals, with the 6th player up for grabs. Do you guys believe a 6-2 is no doubt what we will play? Who's M2 and who's libero?

M2 is Wade, libero is Strickland, 6th player is Scambray or Schwan

M2 is Wade, libero is Strickland, 6th player is Scambray or Schwan My mistake, thought he was listing Strickland as the L2. I think Nelson gets the other OH spot, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict Dehoog gets into the mix on the right. If they run a 6-2, keep Nelson on the right, and put Scambray on the left.

Yes, DeHoog is a powerful lefty. I would love to see her bring some heat from the right. I am also hoping to see Crissy Jones get into the mix, just not sure where yet.

I predict they will run the 6-2 again if at all possible. The team is built for it right now, with more OHs than you can shake a stick at. The 6-2 will allow them to get onto the floor.
But we know the coaches are intensely data-driven, and if the 5-1 appears to give the best performance we'll see them use it, no doubt.

well I think they should run a 6-2 too, but that's really only if the passing can stay consistent and the middle defender gets better at playing deep line shots (we got burned by our fair share of those last year). I really wish our setters would take a few steps back, dig in and play defense first, and teach our middles our to set a decent ball to the pins if the pass off the dig isn't high enough for the setter to get there. The setters shouldn't cheat up so far on defense.... I mean, the setters are only playing 3 rotations, they can afford to expend a little more energy chasing balls right I'll reserve my feelings for the starting lineup until I see how the passing rotation looks. Strickland, while a very solid player, had some passing woes in the second half of the season and had than her fair share of being too aggressive in defense, to the tune of taking (and shanking) a ball that another defender was in position to play. I'd want to see how her passing has improved and the communication in the backcourt, as well as the passing skills of the 3rd primary passer (whomever that may be) before I make any sweeping judgements. As far as attacking, I think that it will depend on the setting. Nelson was very good from the right but I also think that it would because she had the better RS setter in her rotations (Nogueras). Nogueras would set the RS in transition A LOT, and do it very well. Beals sets to the RS, even in system, weren't that crisp, and she didn't do it often in transition. Now perhaps that's because the offensive system was designed that way considering Vansant was on the left with Beals during the majority of her rotations, but, regardless, the point is that based on what I've seen of Beals setting to the RS last year, Nelson may not be as effective as she was. Does that mean she moves to the left? maybe... I was never overly impressed with her when she hit on the left. Every now and then she'd have some booming kills, but in general she doesn't have the range and shot selection an L2 needs to be successful at this level. I like the idea of having a left OPP during half the rotations. It gives the opposing defense something to think about. Anyway, we shall see.

Beals at S1 and it will be interesting to see Finau and Tanner play for S2. Tanner was hurt all of last year and Finau redshirted while joining the team part way through the season. Don't we love position battles.

I haven't seen Tanner play since she was 17 but I would think that if she's healthy she would have the edge if a 6-2 is what JMac has in mind. Finau has beautiful hands but her fitness has to be an issue.

I'd hate to see Tanner's blocking/hitting talents wasted in a 6-2.

If UW runs a 6-2 with Tanner setting it is very possible that she could be the hitter when she rotates to the front row.

Hey Huskies fans....I am going to be in Seattle the weekend UW plays Wisky and would like to go watch the game. Is there a way or how hard/easy it to get to campus on public transit? or should I just get a car to head that way? thanks! Are you staying downtown? If so, you can take bus no. 43 (towards University District) e.g., on 4th Ave and Pike Street. It will take you very close to the Alaska Airlines Arena You can also catch an ST bus (252, 255, 257) at Westlake Park (4th & Pine) to the Montlake Freeway Station, then walk north across the Montlake Bridge to Hec Ed. You can also catch a bus to the U District (#70, for instance), grab a bite on the Ave, then walk across campus, or catch a #43 or #44 southbound on 15th, to Hec Ed.

Yeah, it was a flip-flop offense, Vansant when she was in the front row, Sybeldon and Nelson when she was in the backrow. I'm thinking we're going to see MORE backrow attacks from Vansant. Whoever is at OH2 will also see more sets than Strickland did.
