Also coming off of a stratispheric emotional victory against SC to make it into the FF. Something similar happened after UW beat Nebraska in the Seattle Regional in an almost equally emotional victory - in the following match, they came out flat as an ironing board and laid an egg against Cal. Granted that PSU and Cal were simply the better teams, but UW, in both cases, was a better team than they looked. The Huskies "came out" just fine against PSU, taking a 10-4 lead IIRC. Until Hancock started serving.... And then after that they played super tight and never really got back to playing like we saw them all year long. Yep and PSU wasn't fazed one bit being down in that environment and in similar being down like they were against Wisconsin 2 nights later or Stanford in the Regional Final. Tough group of kids.

I'm just going to trust that JMac will put the best team out on the floor. With seven freshmen, it is going to a scramble.
Krista will be at OH1, that's certain. Nothing else is.
Leaders: Krista, Cassie, and Bailey.

I think so too, redbeard.
I kind of lean with this: with all the ability at the hitter position, I reckon Cassie will be used mostly for defensive purposes. She may get some attempts at hitting, but there should be a greater applicability at defense due to graduation of JO. Plus, she can help mentor the younger defensive players in Reni Meyer-Whalley, Kim Condie, etc.
Just my two cents.

I think Cassie is starting at Libero and staying on defense all season. I've only seen one practice so far, but I was very impressed with Carly & Tia.

It is where she will serve the team best. Carly is impressive as is Tia, she has a bit of a rushed approach but quick arm swing. Courtney hits a heavy ball too... I'm most curious as to what will happen with potential red shirts this season. With so much power in the OH spot I would guess someone will red shirt.

It will be interesting and exciting to see what the hitting rotation looks like. There are so many options this year. I speculate it will be Vansant and Scambray at OH with Nelson and DeHoog on the right. Crissy Jones is athletic and strong and will challenge at MB. Beals is solid and consistent, Tanner is healthy (I hope)and Finau has great hands. Not sure why the Huskies would switch from a 6-2 but this year they have that option. JO will be missed in the backrow but Strickland should be strong in the libero jersey. In my opinion, Schwan is the wildcard. She is so talented, but Scambray might have an edge. Like vllbll09, I think we will see a redshirt or two from the freshman group. I hope that we will see a number of different combinations during the preseason. Counting down to the 29th!

With you about redshirting. Don't believe that would necessarily be negative, if one or both of the freshman take a redshirt this season. Hopefully the Dawgs will not have to deal with the injury bug as bad as last year. As it's been said, the position battles will make for an interesting line up and rotation.

Too many variables to make any clear predictions, with Vansant at OH1 the only certainty. The most likely to redshirt will be Vansant's backup at OH1. That could be Schwan.

Good article. Though I'd be darned if any of the freshman takes a starting spot. Most likely if they are playing at a high level they will see playing time. Hard to believe the season begins this weekend!

Is one of those nets pictured in the article perpendicular to the others? Bisecting? Interesting concept.
