Wow! On paper he sounds great. Especially for a Volunteer Assistant. It can be a good stepping stone for the right person. There have been some good ones in the past like Mike Johnson who is HC at Xavier (formerly HC at Austin Peay and Asst at Cal Poly).

Crissy Jones mother played basketball at Boise State. Her father played basketball at Cal State Fullerton. Genes.

No, that's not a shank, that's part of the superfast new national offense; skip the setter, pass directly to the hitters waist. Fools them everytime.

Good article. Though I'd be darned if any of the freshman takes a starting spot. Most likely if they are playing at a high level they will see playing time. Hard to believe the season begins this weekend! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I'm still thinking: OH1: Vansant, Schwan OH2: Nelson, Scambray MB: Sybeldon, Wade, Jones OPP: Tanner, DeHoog, Jones S: Beals, Tanner L: Strickland Scambray and Jones could earn starting spots, but they'll have to unseat veterans to do it. Who do you believe JMac will redshirt? Do you see Kim Condie and Meyer-Whalley receiving quality playing time? Aside, your predictions are clear. Anything's possible. We'll see what Jim has in mind tomorrow evening.

I expect a good deal of experimentation from JMac this weekend. Each of the last two seasons, Nelson started out at OH2, before ending up at OPP, so I don't think JMac's lineups this weekend will necessarily tell us very much.

It seems everyone in this entire thread (including me, up to now) is talking about all sorts of angles regarding Washington EXCEPT for the 3 matches this Friday & Saturday.
UW plays Portland State Friday at 6 and Portland State's staff has plenty of experience in recent years (pre conference and tournament) playing the Huskies. You know they'd love to start the season upsetting Washington.
Then Washington has to play at 11 a.m. Saturday against Gonzaga. On paper, UW wins, but it's 11 a.m. and Gonzaga could launch their season in glorious fashion by catching Washington in a Saturday morning slump.
Then the Huskies have to turn around and play against the host school and there will likely be the biggest crowd of the weekend for that match.
Question: Could Washington lose 1, or 2, of these matches?

Going on the road (Boise and Provo) for the first two weekends should serve them, especially the freshmen, in good stead.

They play this tourney format (one game the first night, then an early match and a later match with the host school on the second day), with the same teams, every preseason. Sure there have been a close call or two, but the Huskies aren't going to lose because they are unprepared for the schedule.

So, if Tanner is going to be only setting, at least for now:
OH1: Vansant, Schwan OH2: Scambray, Jones MB: Sybeldon, Wade, Jones OPP: Nelson, DeHoog, Jones S: Beals, Tanner, Finau L: Strickland, Condie

Condie saw very limited action last night. She did not even record any stats... Cassie had 12 of the team's 38 digs. So looks like it was strictly Strickland last night.... funny pun there. Obviously, Jim will play to win. I agree we will not learn much for the lineup following the weekend. The two matches today are going to be interesting.

So far everyone has played except Magraw and Meyer-Whalley.
