I could not agree more with your posting hal1992. I cannot quite figure out this oshkosh poster. He must hold some grudge against the U of I that would prompt him to spew all of this anti-Hambly and anti-U of I garbage. It appears he primarily posts on the non-volleyball forum, "Political Ramblings". For those who care to, check out his other posts. The few I read sound very much like his Illinois posts...lots of bile and arguing for argument's sake. Unhappy much, oshkosh?

I love how you try make this personal; as if I have some vendetta against Illinois because I have a different opinion than you. We're on an online forum and I posted my VOLLEYBALL analysis of the strategy used by a head coach of one of the biggest programs in the country. Far be it for me to actually talk about the volleyball decisions being made.
I'll be sure not to share any concrete opinions with analysis anymore. Let's just go back to talking about the different faces that players make and our personal feelings about what that means then post videos of Kevin Hambly's office. My apologies.

Illinois beats Middle Tennessee State, 3-0. Scores were 11, 20 and 23. Go Illini!

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Illinois cruised in its first set of the Blue Raider Bash, taking advantage of numerous Middle Tennessee State attack errors and hitting better than .600 itself.
The rest of Friday’s match didn’t go as smoothly for the Illini, but they managed to hold on for a 25-11, 25-20, 25-23 victory.
Jocelynn Birks and Liz McMahon led Illinois with 10 kills apiece. Birks was nearly unstoppable in the first set with five kills in eight attacks, no errors and a hitting percentage topping .600. The Illini called on McMahon in the second and third sets, and the senior opposite hitter came through, with nine of her 10 kills coming in the final sets.
Illinois setters Allison Palmer and Alexis Viliunas each hit double figures in assists with 16 and 12, respectively, and Anna Dorn led the Illini with three total blocks.
Illinois (4-2) will be back in action Saturday in the Blue Raider Bash with a 12:30 p.m. match against Virginia Tech and a 7:30 p.m. match against Washington State....by Scott Richey in the Champaign News-Gazette

My intention is for this to be the last time I have anything to say about you, oshkosh, and your postings on VT. I choose to focus on the positives in life and volleyball as much as possible. You seem to want to do the opposite. I have no desire to feed into all of your negativity about U.S. politics or the Fighting Illini volleyball team. Move on to some other VT poster (and volleyball team) to bait!

Signed, A "so old I know what the boneyard is" Illinois alum The boneyard has been gloriously beautified...basically turned into a park for some stretches of it through campus and downtown Champaign. You should come to C-U and check it out!

Congrats to the Hokies! They deserved the win. They have some high flyers! (I don't want to make any excuses for the Illini loss, but the up official made several questionable calls.)

I realize it is early, but I am beginning to feel that this team is hardly different from last year's team. If you compare the stats from last year to this year game-to-game, they reveal the same 3 hitters getting kills and inactive middles offensively. I know Stark provides them options defensively, and that she is "improved" from last year, but I really am hesitant to believe that she will produce much more than what she is doing now offensively in the Big Ten.

This has to be the worst loss in a LONG time for us.

My concern is that the team has not totally committed to the 6-2...especially when I read remarks from VT posters that I suspect are parents of players. As a coach, I don't know what you do about this situation, except play on.
Let's remember this is only the second week of the season. This team needs to be given time to develop and evolve into the final product by tournament time.
Crucial to this development is freshman libero, Donnelly. She is shouldering a lot of defensive responsibility. I very much believe she will be a top libero before the season is over.
I rarely regret postings I make on VT, but I wish I had never gotten so enthusiastic about the arrival of setter Allison Palmer. From reading postings by the aforementioned parents, I suspect I made it even harder for Palmer to be accepted by her teammates.
I do believe Hambly had to do something for Illinois to achieve more than they did last season. If it does not work out, I still believe going to the 6-2 was the right move by Coach.

I am very curious to see how the Illini fare against Washington State this evening. The Cougars swept Virginia Tech.
