Next year's recruiting class is excellent. Great indoor players, almost all of whom have a lot of sand experience. They may struggle a bit this spring, but look for them to be a pretty strong sand team the following year.

They probably just copied and pasted the indoor roster.

None of you Poly fans seem to have noticed that your new setter/sand player, Taylor Nelson, was named PrepVolleyball's National Player of the Year…

Did Cal Poly add courts? Never played on what they had, but heard there were a couple of courts on campus or something....

It's been years, but Mike Wilton took me around SLO years back; I LOVE the quaint, central, CA coastal-town. Pismo is crowded with parking i$$ues, it has finer sand (making play a bit more difficult), but it isn't Avila. Avila Beach is in the cove which 1) keeps the wind out 2) means warmer temperatures and 3) isn't fog ridden as Pismo can be. --- Washington has Denny Field.

It is my understanding the CalPoly will use the courts @ Pismo beach for the upcoming season as their home court. Regarding Avila, totally agree regarding wind and fog, it's typically slightly less windy and can be sunny when Pismo has fog. I don't care for the sand imported when they rebuilt the town after the oil spill mess, it's very rocky, lots of small pebbles and rocks. Pismo does have parking issues at times, but what California beach town doesn't. I'm just happy to see Poly getting their sand program going!

I stayed in Avila five or six months ago - I only remember seeing one fairly decrepit looking court for the entire beach. I think Pismo is far more "match ready." Avila's a neat little place though. Other than the giant nuclear plant down the road, maybe.

GLRA: You should have seen my face when they "tested" the alarm at the nuclear plant (Unfortunately, I was unaware it was a "test")...Yeah, Avila is sketchy on the court inventory...I thought they had 2 courts at C.Poly, but Pismo is the way to go...
