Although Stanford was swept by Hawai'i and UCLA, and lost to SCU 2-3, I expect them to win at least a couple of their remaining matches. E.g., Cal. Hope the weather is better Friday.
If Stanford were going to hire an alum to coach sand vb, maybe Barb Fontana, who has actual coaching experience, would be a better choice than Kerri Walsh. Though you could hardly beat Walsh for attracting the attention of recruits.

The money would have to be really, really good - and how much is Stanford willing to pay for a sand coach? Kerri...maybe. But she's not available before 2017. Ashley Ivy would be a good option, I think. If I were Stanford, I would also reach out to Mike Lambert. Come to think of it, if I were Stanford, I'd call Misty - she is definitely interested in running a program. Post-baby, of course.

I certainly have no clue about the moveability or plans of any candidates. Though Kerri tweeted something about coaching the sand team, after visiting the team Saturday. But as you mentioned, not before 2017. I wonder if Stanford's losses this year will accelerate the push to develop the sand program (dedicated coaches and players, etc.).

i hardly think stanford will have any kind of problem getting big time recruits for sand. this is only their 2nd year having a sand program. the stanford name itself will bring the recruits. a big time coach, if they decide to go that route, will only be a bonus. it's stanford! once the program gets its footing, the recruits will come.

I completely agree with this. However, I wonder if the advantage will still go to the socal schools because of location (in California that is).

I think Dunning wants to keep things the way they are. He has control over the sand program for his own training purposes. When sand volleyball becomes a NCAA championship sport the athletic department will aggressively make changes. The athletic department is into national championships, Directors' Cup, Capital One Cup, etc. I don't know if sand volleyball will become part of the Capitol One Cup but I suspect it eventually will. I believe at this point the AVCA championship tournament doesn't get enough publicity for the Stanford AD to care much about it.
In 5 to 6 years if Stanford has a good sand coach and has obtained some success I would guess they will be able to recruit from throughout the country. At that point the balance of power may start to level out with the SoCal schools. Until then USC and Pepperdine should have the upper hand because most top sand players will come out of SoCal, not NorCal.

Taking a look at some recent results...anyone have an idea why neither Croson or Amaro (the two best players on the squad) are playing for Arizona right now?

I was disappointed to not see Jane plying the sands of Hermosa.
Her play during the teams trip to Hawaii was not what you would expect from the former world champion.
Coach Walker told me he is supporting Janes effort 100% to focus on classes and reload for the indoor season.
Go get'um Jane... You can do it,
