Hi gang,
I need your recommendations for TV shows to rent via DVD/Blu-Ray. I've just finished Breaking Bad and the second season of Game of Thrones. I'm also on the eighth (and final) season of Dexter. I'm waiting for the latest seasons of Downton Abbey, Homeland, and Falling Skies (although the second season sucked IMO) to be available on DVD.
Okay, fire away. And, remember, only quality TV shows, not your usual crap.
Thanks, in advance.

I got Season 3 of Game of Thrones covered.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm also waiting on DVDs for the latest seasons of the following:
The Good Wife Mad Men Walking Dead House of Cards
I'm just wondering if I'm missing out on any other shows.

I don't watch The Good Wife, but if you like the lead male actor (Josh Charles), he was great in Sports Night. Great series (1999 - 2001). About an ESPN type show. Way ahead of its time.
Highly recommend Six Feet Under and The Sopranos. The Mentalist and Cold Case are very good series.

Sports Night is great.
The Newsroom with Jeff Daniels is fantastic.

I've seen all of Six Feet Under and The Sopranos. I've seen the first 2 seasons of The Mentalist and sort of lost interest. I've seen the first 2 seasons of Cold Case.

American horror story is also good. But I highly reconnect supernatural

I would go back to The Mentalist. It gets pretty good when they pick up and finally conclude the Red John arc. I have also liked the new episodes since the Red John arc was completed. The story line is now headquartered in Austin.

Wolfgang,
Firefly is my all time favorite.
I have been watching "Almost Human" and some of the futuristic special effects are pretty nifty. So, it will probably get cancelled.
"Modern Family" and "The Big Bang Theory" always make me happier after watching.
I have a collection of "Game of Thrones" and "True Blood" DVD's to watch. Someday. I want to binge watch them.
"The Good Wife" and "Scandal" and "Suits" are riveting.
I agree with the recommendation above, with "Sports Night" and "Newsroom" being fast-paced news anchor human interest stories that are great.
I have a bunch of "The Walking Dead" on my TiVo, I just don't want to watch anyone else die. So, I can't make myself watch the next episode.

I quite frankly think it has a horrible story line and it's repetitive. But maybe that's just my bias towards hating all things zombie. Never liked Zombie stuff.

I watched the first couple of episodes of The United States of Tara with a Showtime preview a couple of years ago and liked it. But I never bothered to track down DVDs until now. It's better than I initially thought. And deeper.
The news series, Fargo, is supposed to be good.

I generally agree with you re. zombie stuff. However, I really liked Shaun of the Dead, which I realize is a movie and not a TV show.

Shaun of the dead is the only zombie thing I've ever liked and that's because it was HILARIOUS. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously like TWD. But yeah other than that, i generally can't stand zombie stuff. Too overplayed and not scary at all
