As others have mentioned, Nebraska has recruited (heavily) some very talented African-American players going back to the Terry Pettit days (Angela Gray). But, they're not going to offer a player who they don't feel is up to Big Ten-caliber just because they are black. Who said they should do that...?

I completely believe the Huskers have been recruiting the top black girls. I'm sure the fans would embrace them if they came. But like many mentioned, I would think it could comes down to the recruit not feeling comfortable being one of the few minorities on the team. I suspect that Sherisa Livingston's addition to their staff could help them seem more attractive to minority recruits. Except she left Nebraska to coach Portland State with Nate Ngo. If you know Sherisa, she doesn't like to be stuck in any one place for too long. Sherisa is at Seattle, not Portland St.

Nebraska also does not have many African-Americans choosing to play volleyball after high school. A lot play basketball.

It’s amusing how a thread can morph into something completely different from the header. What started as an outlook for the 2014 season turned into why Huskers have no African-American players. Somewhere along the line, the phony narrative that Nebraska is racist was even brought up. I’m glad that one got squelched. Now if we could only do the same for the bogus claim that all Nebraska fans are old people. I’ve heard that one a’plenty over the years.

If youre talking about me, I was saying that those types of questions lead to those statements. Its happened many times before. Even a fellow Hawaii fan has stated it. In no way was I claiming they that they were, because ive defended nebraska numerous times. This is volleytalk, People will always use something and exploit it and that question is one of those things.

It has been said on other threads, because people brought up how nebraska has no african american players. I should not have assumed that someone would claim it, but volleytalk is filled with trolls and ive already seen it happen.

Nebraska hasn't been able to attract the top notch black players to their vball team. I bet that drives Cook crazy. Race aside, I do admire the type of players that end up competing for the Huskers. They always seem very driven. Re: the Nebraska fanbase being old, I dunno. They look fairly old to me when I watch on TV. Unless they're just seating all the grannies towards the lower section to be polite. But hey, at least their games are well attended and old folks have money to spend, they travel. An older fanbase is better than no fanbase.

Not really about nebraska 2014, but it is about nebraska
Is it true sarah pavan had a hard time adjusting to her "celebrity" status while playing at nebraska. I've read articles that kind of hinted at it, but nothing was ever really confirmed.

My joke is that they are the only ones that can afford the season tickets....and that is not exactly a joke.+
