I see per her twitter account that she has been training and is ready for the upcoming season. Any idea who she is actually playing with???

Appears she is playing in Milwaukee with Amanda Dowdy. Which is mildy interesting since Dowdy is currently on the #1 seeded team at the NVL event in Atlanta. bvbinfo.com/Tournament.asp?ID=2978

Only a matter of time before Kerri and April are fighting over who can dump the other fastest to pick up a rejuvenated Nicole! She is BACK!!!
Short of Youngs/Masakayan coming back or Fopma dumping Pavlik, there isnt anything on the women's side I am more fired up about!

I think with Nicole's points though, they'll likely be in the main draw in Milwaukee. Guess we'll see

You are probably right. Top ten likely here: volleytalk.proboards.com/post/1147990/threadBranagh/Dowdy would have 1,085 points. Seems like there would be at least 2 other teams with more than 1085, but looking at the list, unless Kropp or Turner make an appearance, it doesn't appear that there would be.

Guest2, what makes you excited about Nicole Branagh? (This is a serious question, not intended as any sort of slight.)

I am a big Nicole fan. Not really sure why because she doesnt have a ton of charisma, possibly because she made her bones with my favorite female player ever (EY!!!!) and I sort of see her as a link back to the days before the Misty/Kerri aren't we all happy and best friends era. (I am not diminishing Kerri's competitiveness at all here, I just dislike her relentless positivity)
I think she had a solid career, but could have done much more and every time she was right there something happened. EY was a little past it in the Olympics, Misty wasnt serious when they played together, and she narrowly missed getting Kerri as a full time partner (and they were awesome when they did play together, except when Kerri was just off pregnancies)
Nicole won 20 or so tournaments in a tough era, but I feel like she could have had 50 with some breaks.

I see Branagh and Dowdy won the CBVA AAA Manhattan Beach on Saturday.

Well, Nicole is back! Now, since she WAS Kerri's choice prior to Misty wanting to join the "dream in gold" duo, what was she MISSING when she was dropped by Kerri and tried to move on. It WAS particularly "late" in the game, so was it really just that all the other teams were "set" and she was left with "whomever"? If Phil drops Rosie, as it referenced here a lot lately, does EVERYBODY switch up? Interesting....

I would think April/Kerri would have to have a terrible year, and Nicole would have to look VERY good for the rest of this year for that to happen...BUT could Fopma take the chance on her? or one of the others? Fendrick??

My "bad" JB.S., I meant to put in 2012 or whenever she was dropped by Kerri (what happened THAT year) as she should have placed better as the #2 "individual seed" (if there is such a title) but subsequently didn't perform so well... Why did she "tank" in 2012/13, or did she ?

Not to beat a dead horse about 2012...BUT.....Kerri switching partners at last minute (I prefer not to use the word dumping) was really a no brainier....I really don't think that Kerri & Nicole would have made it to the top of the podium....Misty was Kerri's best choice for Gold and Kerri knew it....JMO.....

Use the word or not, thats what Kerri did. As to your second point, I wont say that Nicole/Kerri had an equal chance to win gold as Misty/Kerri, but they still would have had a very good chance. Nicole/Kerri won 2 of the 4 FIVBs they entered and those were without practicing together, a season of prep, etc.

Nicole was the blocker with McPeak and played primarily behind EY's block and was successful with both partners. I agree, Nicole/Kerri would have been one of a few teams with the chance to win gold.

So, what happened AFTER the drop/dump by Kerri: Did Nicole just end up "out of the mix" and not get a top tier partner? If she was that good, wouldn't other players have been "...beaten a path" to her text # on Monday? Why didn't she partner up appropriately and go on to more AVP/FIVB fame . . ?
