Not sure about situation w Mourning... I also asked about Misty Ma'a from Miami ... She has not played either I don't believe.. Not sure the why ... Pretty quiet about both of them .. Misty Ma'a has played in 16 sets though, but Morning has not played at all and I saw a televised match and she was in street clothes at the end of bench. No one on here is a avid Miami fan. I saw her dressed in street clothes during the NC matches. She could be red shirting, either medical or just so she can have another year. Sorry no one can tell you more.

Concerning Miami, I wouldn't consider them a shoe in. Not only do they not have a top 25 RPI win, Miami FL does not have a Top 50 RPI win! Signature wins are Seton Hall (62 RPI) and Virginia Tech (63 RPI). Not very impressive. No real stinker losses.

Miami will be 19-10 +-1 and will be in the 30's RPI; they will be in. Why are you so confident about this? Check trojan's bracketology, he doubts Miami can get in with 0 top 50 wins. Their best win is Seton Hall? Just because they finish 37 does not lock te/m up a spot. Have you seen them play, other than Leaf, Sims and Templeton, the team is pretty dismal. We'll see, but if you know something about their resume that I don't, please share.

I asked this earlier in the season and never saw any responses. Is there anyone who knows why Alexis Morning, MH for Miami has not played this year? She was picked as a pre-season All-ACC selection and I have not seen any information on her for injury, etc. Thanks in advance. Something to do with her right knee. Not sure if she has any interest in redshirting. If not maybe try to get a couple weekends out of her at end of year. purely speculative.

I only saw the Miami-UNC match last week, but at least some of Miami not looking good was a function of UNC playing pretty well. I happened to see Miami-FSU on TV a few weeks ago and Miami looked very good in that match.
I do think "Stop Leaf and you stop Miami" is something of a problem for the team, but if you don't stop or contain Leaf (a lot of teams can't) Miami can be pretty dangerous. Another factor is that Miami starts a freshman setter in a 5-1. Freshmen can be inconsistent and if you're setter's a little off pretty much any team looks bad.
The Miami I saw play FSU looked like a tournament quality team. The one I saw at UNC did not.

Weekend Notables:
FSU 24-0 12-0 AVCA #3 RPI #2 UNC 20-2 11-1 AVCA #6 RPI #6 Duke 18-6 10-3 NR RPI #27 Miami 17-7 10-3 NR RPI #34 Pitt 21-4 9-3 NR RPI #48 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ VA 15-11 8-5 NR RPI #51 Louisville 14-11 6-7 NR RPI #86
Duke's lost to Pitt cost them in the Coaches poll and RPI this week.. They still can be a contender for ACC Championship but it will take a win out for them and and losses for FSU-UNC -most unlikely..
FSU plays @ Duke this Thursday and @ UNC this Friday-- The biggest week for FSU is here... a win over these 2 top teams could help make the case they are the best in the ACC this year..
What has happened to Louisville??? they were picked as my sleeper team in the ACC this season and Im not sure what is going on there but they are dropping FAST... # 86 in RPI this week ...
Pretty safe to say in the post season NCAA from the ACC are: FSU, UNC, DUKE, Miami.... maybe Pitt? All depends how each of these teams finish..

I think this is where the unbalanced schedule comes into play. UNC plays FSU twice, Duke twice, and played Pitt on the road.
FSU plays UNC twice, Duke once on the road, and Pitt on the road. Duke plays FSU once at home, UNC twice, and Pitt at home. Pitt played UNC once at home, FSU once at home, and Duke once away.
So UNC plays 5 matches against the other top 4 teams in the conference 2 H 3 A 2-1 so far FSU plays 4 matches 1 H 3A 2-0 so far Duke plays 4 3H 1 A 0-2 so far Pitt plays 3 2 H 1 A 1-2 so far
Miami has no wins against any of the top 4 teams.
Should Pitt have snuck in....(they probably won't) something really doesn't feel fair about it.

Miami will not make the tounament if they lose at Pitt and at FSU, and it is very unlikely that they'll win either. Wit no RPI top 50 wins and losses to Missouri State and TCU, this team is extremely overrated by RPI and the committee will see that. Pitt, however, will probably make the tourney with that good win over Duke as long as they aren't punished too hard for weak scheduling. I would say they can even get in with a loss in one of their four remaining tricky games (@uva, @lville, vsMiami, vsVaTech), but I doubt they'll lose any of those. Louisville was never supposed to be good. They are very young and undersized and coming from a non-challenging conference. People got too high on them after their win at Minnesota, which looked a lot better in September than it does now.

Miami lost to TCU @ TCU along with Iowa state, Oklahoma and Kansas
They lost on Neutral floor the Arkansas Little Rock who went 4 with USC and Oklahoma
They lost to Missouri State on a neutral floor but Mo State went 5 with Utah and 4 with Wisconsin
They are not good losses but:
They are no worse than Lipscomb who is ranked one position ahead of Miami Fl losing to Ga Tech, Northern Kentucky, and Xavier
They are no worse than Creighton losing to South Dakota and Seton Hall.
RPI is what it is. To say Miami Fl has not done enough is to ignore what others have done.

RPI is what it is. To say Miami Fl has not done enough is to ignore what others have done. I doubt Lipscomb will make it to the tourney but even so they have a win against a top 20 rpi team while Miami lacks one against a top 50. If Miami fails to beat FSU or Pitt, they would finish 0-7 against RPI top 50 teams. Creighton has the wins against Marquette, plus one against Lipscomb and one against Colorado. They are also the favorites to win their conference at this point. I would put both these teams into the tournament ahead of Miami, but I don't think Lipscomb will make it without winning the ASun. If you want to see how many of the other schools have better resumes go to the bracketology page. Maybe I'm just biased because the two games I saw Miami play live, they put up an average of 18 a set without making anything close. I could have gone to other games but thought that Miami would make it close and wasted my time because of it.

This Miami bashing is too much. Plain and simple, 4 teams from the ACC get in the tourney. Miami being the 4th team after a big road win @pitt. Opp Kelsie Groot has been spectacular for them the last two weekends expect the same on Friday. Libero switch has also made a difference. Canes in 4.

And if Miami doesn't beat Pitt, how good is their case for making the tournament? If Pitt loses to Miami?
Barring surprises in the other matches, the Pitt-Miami match may very well decide which school gets the 4th bid for the ACC. I do think 5 bids is still a possibility.

Miami's bad weekend in Madison isn't doing them any favors now. Wisconsin played really well in the first two sets against them, so you can explain that, but they looked bad against Missouri State and just barely got by Ball State. Ball control was a major issue then, so they must have resolved that somewhat to make the improvement they have. I think Sims can be a significant threat if they can get her the ball.

Also, if you look at bubble teams, or even teams ranked below 15 or so, there are a lot of bad losses they have taken. I think the lack of a signature win thus far is more of a problem for UMiami.

regardless, if Miami is in the top 40 when the bracket is picked, they will be in...unless of course someone can cite a time in recent memory when an ACC team was top 40 and did not make it in?
