USC Kritza Nwanebu Bugg Scambray Benson USC, Stanford, Washington, Cal, Colorado, UCLA, ASU Yes, USC USC has to show me a backcourt before I can predict they will win the NC. Hagglund is gone and she got up a lot of balls for the Trojans. Add to that Bricio's ability to be shaky on serve receive, and the L2 being Ruddins or Gills, both of whom have never passed at this level, and I think USC will be prone to too many errors in the backcourt. I think Stanford will end up winning it. Also, Smith-Gooden will probably be Cal's L1.... she will get far too many touches not to be FOY. Perhaps Buechler at UCLA, but thats only if she's the L1. While I think Scambray will start, and will probably be the BEST freshmen (along with Abercrombie), she'll play in a 6-2 with Nelson and the better offensive MB (Sybeldon) with her for 2 rotations... I just don't think she'll get enough touches to offset how many Smith-Gooden or possibly Buechler will get.

I think Stanford will end up winning it. That's definitely a possibility/probability! I think their immense firepower at the net will offset it, however, much like Texas (although I think next year USC could have both better passing and physicality then Texas). My opinion is that Gillis will step in nicely at L2 or at least DS for Ruddins and solidify passing. Also, I personally hope that the Trojans run a modified 6-2 with the setters coming in for the middles as 2 of their biggest bangers will be on the right. I'd love to see more of Nwanebu in the back!

Unless Nwanebu plays 6 rotations, or becomes a blocking machine playing 3, her offensive numbers (which, IMO, will be hindered by a more inexperienced USC backcourt) won't beat out Vansant's all around numbers.

Stanford Dunning Vansant Bugg Benson Marshall 8 (Utah, OSU, Wazzu, Cal out) Yes do you think Cal will be out because of their crummy OOC SOS? Or do you think they won't finish in the top 8 of the conference?

Apparently she's off the team for disciplinary reasons, I don't know any details. Right now I would say it's not likely she's returning for a senior season. Shame, she did bring some stability to the squad. Kingdon can't do it all and her supporting case isn't strong enough to take up the slack when Kingdon isn't producing.

I don't think any team in the conference lost more touches than them (2 6-rotation outsides + starting setter) and they already didn't look very good down the stretch last year. Some firepower at the net, but serious questions in ball control and an unproven setter make me go hrmmmm

IMO they will have the record to get in (weak OOC means lots of wins) and the Pac-12 conference will keep their RPI IF they can win. With Croson gone Arizona won't be as formidable. IMO Cal's tournament hopes will depend midseason when they go on the road to the Arizona's and to the Mountains back to back, if they lose all 4 of those, they won't get it, if they can win at least 2, I think they will get in.

They could. Just a prediciton after all. They have a bad OOC but I definitely see some losses in there for them. UCSB and Pacific visiting the same weekend could be problematic, and dropping an early one at NMSU wouldn't be beyond the pale with so many new pieces. That's where I think Cal messed up with scheduling - the risk/reward was just not balanced right.
