IMHO I really don't think UCLA should be financially burdened for cleanup and repairs because of faulty infrastructure! It's not like it was an act of God thing where no one is responsible! GO HUSKERS

Wouldn't the city or the utilities dept. bare responsibility for the water main break? They should be! The pipes have been around for 90+ years. Actually, municipality immunity (as well as other government immunity) is generally a good thing, not a bad thing.

In that article they talk about how determined they are to play basketball there, noting that the season doesn't start for several months. No mention that volleyball was supposed to play there starting next month.
They never care about volleyball, alas.

There's only the USC/UCLA game on September 23(?) that's in jeopardy because of Pauley. UCLA plays an alumnae game in Wooden Center in a few weeks and then is on the road all the way until then. It's more important for them to have Wooden Center be in good shape and available that Pauley.
There's also a Men's USA vs Iran in a few weeks that will almost probably have to be cancelled or moved to a different venue.

I don't know what the outcome for UCLA will be but the Iowa State flood from a few years ago created some interesting side effects. The team wound up moving to Ames High for most of the season and selling more season tickets than they every had prior - everyone wanted to make sure they got in. Sold out every season ticket.
Some of the matches that season were awesome! The Nebraska - ISU contest early in that fall was the hottest gym I have ever been in - the school is air-conditioned but the gym area is not. 2000 fans, ESPN U TV, a tight 5 set match in a sweltering gym made for one of the loudest vb matches I have ever seen. Only negative was NU pulled it out in five.
GO CYCLONES! and good luck to the Bruins as they deal with this mess.

Once the floor dries out it will warp. The entire thing will have to be replaced posthaste.

Well, there you go. Probably too far for a helicopter with a big 'ole bucket to fly to the bay then back to Yosemite.

UCLA report on SportsCenter that Pauley will be ready to go.
I thought for sure that floor wold buckle. Great engineering I guess.
If so they dodge a cannon blast.

Looks like Pauley won't be ready until October and Wooden Center won't be ready until November, so the volleyball team will definitely be shuffling schedules a bit.

Maybe they can make a deal with somebody like Marymount High or Brentwood School for some matches. But where are they going to practice? SAC?

There are other gyms in Wooden Center (further in from the main doors) that I didn't see listed as one of the damaged areas. I think those are the primary practice areas anyway.
I think SAC will probably be used primarily by the men's/women's basketball teams for practice.
