OK, I've avoided saying this for awhile now, because I was afraid people would mistakenly take my words to be mean spirited, but I'll just suck it up and deal with the consequences later: Hazelwood's MSU alumni status can no longer be used to keep her at the helm of the Bulldogs. 2013: Overall record: 12-20 Conf: 3-15 2012: Overall record: 4-25 Conf: 0-20 2011: Overall record: 12-17 Conf: 7-13 2010: Overall record: 11-20 Conf: 3-17 etc. You get the point. This season they've already gotten swept by Bakersfield and Monroe and also lost to Sam Houston State. I don't know...maybe it is not totally her fault. Mississippi is not exactly a volleyball hotbed and Starkville and The Barn are not exactly good selling points to recruits. BUT then again, the SEC isn't that tough of a conference to play .500 volleyball in. And the non-conference RPI's of the schools they lose to is embarrassing. I understand volleyball is not high on the totem poll at MSU and they like to how loyalty but you also have to promote the idea of wanting progress. They had some good players last year, just not a complete team. The good players all left the program. You can't build a program if you can't keep your best players in the program. MSU has had more player turnover than Tennessee. I am a MSU alumnus and I am embarrassed by their volleyball performance. My DD was a top 40 prep volleyball Senior Ace and had played on the USA Volleyball YNT. We went to MSU for an unofficial visit and were treated like lepers. They knew nothing about her or her potential. By far the worst visit we ever had. I've also talked to players that have left the program. Their issue is twofold. Coaching and the Athletic Department share the fault. Its obvious a change needs to be made but the AD refuses to do so. Nothing will improve until a change is made. Frankly, they're only as good as their alternative. And there aren't many up and comers that look at MSU as something w potential. Fairly well known there is minimal support and resources. So there is no better alternative, frankly.

Did the SEC not pick players of the week? Or did they just delay announcing because of the holiday?

Did the SEC not pick players of the week? Or did they just delay announcing because of the holiday? Must be just running behind. Haven't even updated stats from Sat and Sun matches yet.

Who was it that said I was crazy to think the Gators would be better in the middle this year despite the loss of Mann? Just checking...

When typing the schedule above, I realized that LSU has no matches this weekend.
Do you think this was intentional or the result of some kind of scheduling snafu? Seems odd to me.

As far as MSU is concerned, I did a little digging and found that the starters who left are all starting on D1 volleyball teams. Gardiner is at Oklahoma, Scott is at University of Miami, McVey is at University of Louisville, Sasson is at Kansas State, and Horner is at Iowa State. All, it seems, started for their new teams last weekend with Sasson making All-Tournament for her team. MSU lost good players. I don't know where the other girls who were on team and not on the MSU roster ended up. Too bad for MSU as it looks as if the players were there, but they were not used to their full potential. Was it the coaching, or bad chemistry among the players? Also, Oklahoma and Louisville made it into the top 25 on ACVA poll with former MSU players on the court.

Thanks.
I got a lot of help from your SEC threads here for missing dates, so thanks for that. One of the things I've learned over the years of doing that site is to save everything. Whenever a new company is brought in to run a website they invariably just chuck everything out and start over. Links stop working, all the old information is no longer available. The SEC website has been through three transitions now I think since I started. So pulling this kind of thing together is harder than it should be.

I've heard some rumblings that Vandy is considering adding volleyball.
