I'm liking the #FreeAbercrombie hashtag that ay created. I'm going to start using it more often! Ha! that wasn't me....I don't think. I post so often, I don't really remember half the crap I say.

The Badgers just keep on rolling along. Now the Huskies will get their chance.

Chapman did not have the best evening, but our middles appeared to dominate as well as Thomas. Impressive comeback. I was a little worried about tonight, figuring we may take a loss to Washington. Frankly, I think the Big 10 NEEDED this win. Wisconsin was probably going to have an easier time winning against USC than winning against Washington (obviously they can win both), and given that Maryland is probably going 0-2, the Big 10 needed a top half Pac-12 win. If Wisconsin went out 0-2, it would have been pretty embarrassing Big 10 preseason season against the Pac-12.

Chapman has been covered well defensively the last 4-5 matches.
29 digs for Morey. Career high.
Thomas and Thompson had great nights. And Nelson. Middles had 24 kills. Ok, the offense as a whole was good.

Our middles dominated because of Lauren and strong OHs, and they're not too shabby. DT is so quick and explosive. Haleigh has improved A LOT!

I didn't see this game but looking at stats. UW had 88 digs in this match. 22 per set, 29 by Morey. Hit well over .300 while USC hit well under .200. I'm actually surprised and disturbed the match was so close looking at those. A six differential in service aces/errors maybe does that.
As for USC looking bad...you have to be careful drawing judgements. Our whole game is based around pressuring the other team into mistakes. If we don't make the other team look bad, we do not usually win.

A lot of unwarranted criticism of SC's defense. They adjusted well to the constant crosscourt hitting from the left and battled through many points, but their transition digging, even on free or down balls was frequently awful. Also it's odd to see a 6-2 with all that size block so poorly. Credit Carlini for spreading the ball around and giving her hitters great opportunities. Wisconsin looks a lot like PSU, terrific setting, solid defense/blocking, and impressive attacking. SC is still a work in progress. Their excellent freshmen are clearly still learning the game at this level, and, except for Bricio, I didn't see much leadership or fire from the veterans. SC played better than I thought they would.

USC hasn't been this bad since 2009, they lost three straight matches TWICE that season. But, they were on a 7-match win streak late in the season and were in a battle with Hawai'i that they lost to end their season... That team was "peaking" at the right time. All of these losses are good for USC. San Diego exposed SC last season and they've been exposed the past three matches, hell they were exposed against Pacific. Haley is too good of a coach. They'll get better.

SC's offense is slow (mick), hitting so-so (nwanebu still looks injured/recovering to me) and blocking was atrocious. Setting leaves a bit to be desired as well...but lots of opportunity for them and they didn't take advantage.

I feel bad for Deme. Wish she were taller. I was impressed with WI's defense at the net and the floor. Is Deme limited to playing DS occasionally? USC still struggling. Yes they are playing good teams but at the least should be ranked in the 20s for RPI. I think the majority of their scoring came from mistakes made by WI

I'm really pulling for Wisconsin to go all the way this year. They may not have all the most talented athletes like USC, Penn State, Texas, and Nebraska do, but they look like the best TEAM. So fun to watch.

I really love Deme, and I think she can hit the percentages that Bates is hitting. Though she may not have as much upside, she has a larger repertoire of shots and can play the blocks better. She was just plagued by hitting errors early on this year, so now she is basically just DS-ing. I have seen Lauren setting her from the back row a couple of times, but I doubt that will be a real option very often.

So fun to watch. I'll pass. I'd prefer Washington or Stanford. but Wisconsin is a fun volleyball team to watch. They remind me of a more offensively diversified Hawaii team. Obviously, Carlini being the difference maker.
