Finally some real pre-conference volleyball at Hec Ed. When's the last time a Washington VT thread went 5 pages BEFORE the match before Pac12 play?

From the UW Daily, JMac knows Huskies will need to play a lot better than they did against Maryland to have a chance against Wisconsin: Full Story - UW Daily

Wisconsin v Washington Wisconsin in 3 Wisconsin in 4 Wisconsin in 5 Washington in 3 Washington in 4 Washington in 5 Unless this thread was supposed to be a VT joke. This thread was started by VT's version of Robin Williams. We can only hope, anyway.

Courtney Schwan played some OPP last night, in place of Jones. Beals is setting Nelson three rotations - the key could be the ability of Tanner/Finau to back-set Jones/Schwan, if the Badgers try to pile up on Vansant.

Having attended all of the Husky home matches this season and the UW-USC match last night as well, I think the Badgers should probably be favored tonight. Their team defense is clearly better than the Huskies, as is their setting. When USC was able to get a good pass and set (which was not very often), the ball still didn't touch the floor on the Badger side very much. They've got a very balanced offense, with a good slide attack that the Huskies will have problems defending, and great leadership from Carlini. If the Huskies get into a lot of extended rallies because they can't put the ball on the floor, the Badgers should take this one. The only areas where I would give a clear edge to the Huskies are middle attacking (which really depends on good passing) and possibly blocking. If Vansant or Nelson catch fire, then they've probably got an edge in outside hitting, but so much depends on the passing. From what I saw last night, serving is more or less equal between the two teams. The big question is who will pass better. This has been an area of inconsistency and concern this year for the Huskies. They miss Orlandini's (libero) skills, consistency, and leadership from last year. On the other hand, the Badgers weren't very consistent last night, either, and USC is not a particularly good serving team, with the exception of Briccio. The Huskies will need to be much sharper than they were last night. On the other hand, although the Badgers were clearly better than USC last night, it was a match that really should have gone five sets. The Badgers trailed USC 18-14 in the fourth set and were making a lot of errors. USC's general disarray pretty much gave away set four at the end. The Badgers do not look invincible. I'm hoping for a good crowd and expect to see one of the best preseason matches this season tonight. I haven't seen UW this season and just UWIS last night on TV, but from what I saw last season, I would say you are pretty much spot on. I guess WISC should be favored since their win over SC is better than anything UW has done this season, and I also agree that WISC's defense looks outstanding, even better than Stanford's, and Carlini amazes me. I have rarely seen setters who could backset so perfectly and set effortlessly from one end of the court to the other. UW also has some youth issues at key positions, but Vansant and Nelson can totally go off in a match, and I didn't see anything last night to indicate WISC can block effectively enough. I give UW home court, firepower, and blocking; WISC gets setting, defense, and experience. The X factor may be serving. We saw what Bricio did to WISC last night, and McLaughlin usually stresses good serving. If Strickland were still on the team, I would be 100% UW. The last factor is the PSU-WISC final last year. WISC blocked the snot out of PSU. The two "shrimps" had 10 block assists between them while Nelson had 9. That happens tonight, and nothing will save UW! (But I'll still to Dub in a good match.)

Strickland is still on the team. She is playing libero. She is struggling to find her groove at the service line though. Hopefully it will be there tonight against the Badgers. Wade and Beals are leading the Huskies in aces.

Last year's libero, Orlandini, graduated. JMac felt that Strickland was the best option to replace her at libero. It's a pretty challenging transition, OH to L, but she seems to be improving each match. She did return to her jump serve last night against Maryland. We'll see if she does the same against Wisconsin.

Does UW win? Or is it going to be UW's night? Can you change the title?...It's hard to take this thread seriously as the match thread when you intended it as one of your pun-ish jokes.
