Ugh. Sadly, MN will continue to be ranked for another week.

Ugh. Sadly, MN will continue to be ranked for another week. Which is the major flaw in the rankings. They should not look at the win loss record, but HOW that team played. Teams like usc, and Minnesota wouldn't be ranked in the top 20

Wow. Dial up the negativity why don't we? This team is better than they played tonight. But it must have looked much worse on the stream than it did from my seat(s) judging from some of the comments here.
I'm not going to rip on this team. They didn't play well, but they kept battling. Pulling out a win from 8-10 in the 5th is always tough. Bright spot was the play of the Tapps (aside from Paige's problems at the service line). I also thought Schau played some good defense. (I have no idea who's going to end up setting this team.)
Speaking of the Tapps, in case I haven't said this already, I was completely wrong about them. I knew that about Hannah last year, but Paige has now made me 2 for 2. I couldn't understand why Minnesota went after them way back when. But there is no doubt they are both talented players and are getting better and better. I was wrong about Wilhite, too, although this was not her best match by a long shot.
I now pause for my own negativity. The crowd didn't get into it because there was no crowd. The effort to suppress attendance is working. Congrats to all involved! And I'll say it again: It hasn't been hot in Minnesota since mid-August. Why the hell is the Pav such a goddamn sauna? OPEN SOME DOORS!

Geoff does not seem happy. The guy is a great coach. Just goes to show how tough the B1G is. Yes, that ball was between the antennae. But OSU was in the net on the next play. Final statsSherwin served 26 times. I can believe that. Minnesota really struggled with her serve. But Daly served 31 times, so ditto for OSU there. And Wilhite had 10 blocks, 10 digs and was 24/25 on serve receive. It was just her offense that was missing.

They certainly supressed my attendance tonight. It sounds like I'm not alone in being supressed.

Some explicit thoughts...
1) My ass hurts! If you've been to a Gopher match before, you understand. 2) Paige Tapp is so quick to close the block, and so is Hannah for that matter. A pair of dominant blockers, and ey, Wilhite isn't too bad either! 3) Wilhite had a triple-double. 4) Our passing and floor defense blows. If that doesn't get significantly better by Saturday, we may not reach 20 points in any of the 3 sets! (No more than 3 sets will be played in any scenerio)
5) Rampage! You're exactly that: a rampageripster. Mad passion and a great fan! Didn't know it was you until I got back home, but I had a sneaking suspicion. Hope you attend more matches even though your Buckeyes won't be playing this fall.

Oh, and Minnesota's serving is god-awful. Not sure why Daly doesn't use her jump serve anymore. She's about the only server on the team besides Paige who has the potential to consistently get teams OOS, and Paige had a handful of SEs tonight anyways.

Daly served 31 times. By far, the most on the team. Her serve is quite effective.
For that matter, OSU was not passing well tonight. Minnesota deserves a lot of credit for that.
I'm more concerned about serve receive, but I still think that will end up being a strength. If this team is in system, they can be pretty good. And if they can get the opposition out-of-system, their block will be a major factor.

I know a win is a win and all that, however, I believe the doom and gloom attitude about this match from Gopher fans is warranted. Seriously, we just almost got beat AT HOME by Ohio State who is playing without their best player.

Here's why I disagree: Minnesota is NOT at the level it's been recently. It's a young team and it's getting better. It's all a matter of expectations, for me anyhow.
Did they play great tonight? Hell, no. Am I going to ignore this just because they won? Nope. But I am going to appreciate what they are doing right and how they hung in there this PM when they were obviously not firing on how many ever cylinders they have.
I still see potential here. Heck, I'm not much of a rah-rah fan, but I think this team deserves better than what it's been getting on here lately. It's a #15-30 team right now. Somewhere in there. Maybe closer to the #30 end. We should appreciate how hard they are working to get better. I don't see anything not to root for.
Just my opinion.

I understand that Rosado got stuck in the front row late in set 4 because we were out of subs. Frustrating! Is our setterless rotation worth all of the subs? Not sure it is. Yeah. I am not a fan of this 6-0 is running. So now the battle for setter seems to be between Schau, Handley, H Tapp, Santana and Wilhite?
