Uh ... what? Didn't you know they already played last night? I thought it was tonight. I get season tickets but only get to see them when work permits. Who won? Well if Friday would be their 'fourth straight home loss' and you now know the UCLA match already happened... ;-)

This is like the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick getting stomped on.

UCLA looked good. I like Strantzali. Nwanebu had 28 attempts and they all looked pretty average. Lowe was on fire and USC had absolutely no answer for her.

A real concern is what top recruits might be thinking or their parents. This can't help a traditional runner for top 20 players and only helps teams like PSU, Stanford, Washington and Texas separate further.
Yes there are some newcomers and a resurfaced program here or there. But I would have to say USC is sliding down.

I think that guy that stands on the stairs at center court and waves a red towel or t-shirt around is scaring all of the luck out of the building.

I don't think last night's match was as decisive as people think. The 2nd set was a blowout (UCLA got separation early and Mick torpedoed his team's chance of getting back into it with the subs he made), but the other two were quite tight and a 2013 Nwanebu would have brought them over the top there. (UCLA's defense was good.....but not that good).

I really thought USC was going to win set 3, but they didn't.

Why do you think Russ Rose has an obsession with collecting liberos and defensive specialists? He never wants to be in the position USC finds themselves in now.

What's this match mean for Monday's AVCA poll? Coaches had USC #9 and UCLA #20. Will UCLA move to #8? (Doubt it.) Does USC drop out of top 20? (Seems like a huge drop.) Or do they both get shuffled somewhere in the middle? (UCLA #11; USC #15) Wait until after the ASU/USC match to ask these questions. And after UCLA/Arizona. BTW, being played on UCLA's "home" court at Pepperdine.

But I think Arizona is too much a one-player team. Could be wrong, I guess. And for that matter, UCLA goes a ways toward being a one-player team themselves.

Mick sort of dug himself a hole with the moonball because no top level setter will ever want to join his program.

USC is still a legit top 20 team but without Nwanebu at full strength and the back court struggling they won't win against the really good teams. I still wouldn't want to face this USC team in the NCAA early rounds this could be a mess for a top seed come tournament time.

USC is struggling for a number of reasons, but Nwanebu is a big factor. She was a force late last season, but that injury is still an issue. USC could end up in the tournament, unseeded, and some top seed could face them in the 2nd round and get bounced.

And for that matter, UCLA goes a ways toward being a one-player team themselves. True, but AZ 1 player is easier to block than UCLA 1 player. Hard to know how the Pepperdine gym will alter the match. Still UCLA should win in 3 or 4. AZ has a tough match tonight then travels then plays UCLA on Friday, not ideal
