and UW hasn't really struggled all that much from the matches I've seen. It could be better, but compared to usc, their fine. Depends on what you mean by "struggled". They were down 2-1 vs Wisconsin and @ Cal, and were also taken to five sets vs Gonzaga and @ BYU. They were able to turn it on and pull those matches out, but that doesn't mean they haven't struggled in some sets. USC isn't all that far below Wisconsin. They're hungry for a win. I'm expecting an all-out fight.

I think it's a race between Tanner getting more consistent with all her sets versus Finau learning to set to the RS. Whoever wins the race will win the playing time.

This may be is likely is probably is the most important match for the Mickster in years.
If USC starts Pac-12 play 0-3, they're pretty much toast for even a remote chance of finishing near the top of the conference. Plus, after Washington, USC has to travel to Pullman where the Cougs beat USC last year in 5 sets after being down 0-2.
But Haley is a great coach and USC has a lot of weapons. Plus they just played two matches at Hec Ed a few weeks ago. So they're going to be very comfortable with the environment and floor. And the Washington facilities crew will have to be careful about not allowing the overhead lights to blind the Dawgs when they reflect off the Mickinator's dome.
And Haley would love to repay UW for knocking USC out of the tournament in that 5-set thriller AT USC last December.
If I had to bet, my money would be on Washington. But it sure ain't a lock.

Unless USC can set the right side better and not keep Nwanabu 8 feet off the net, then its not going to be much of a fight. I still think USC will take UW to 4.

Things could change if Elise Ruddins is back. On another note, I wish we could make a drinking game out of the times Haley disputes a call, drops an f-bomb, or throws something to the ground.

For USC to have a chance in this match:
1. Passing on serve receive has to be 3s primarily 2. Since Italian setter seems to struggle setting right side move Nwanebu to OH with Bricio 3. If Ruddins is back, her and Abercrombie RS, if Ruddins not back Gillis as RS
