So far Minnesota has wins against Ohio State and Iowa State, losses to Louisville and Northwestern. IMO the only reason they are ranked this year is because of their past successes.

It's the only reason anyone is ranked. Or do you mean still ranked? 90-some points is scant support. It just means the support below them is even weaker. They probably can't even afford a loss to Nebraska at home to stay at #25, but it all depends on those other teams.
Minnesota's ranking is the least of their concerns at this point. They need to find a way to start playing better.

Impressed with Pitt receiving votes and being 17-2. Not sure how good the ACC is yet, but they took UNC to 5 sets and play FSU on Friday. They've come a long way Pitt is it

For what it's worth: Minn wasn't ranked by either Rose or Sheffield, the only Big10 voters whose team has played Minn. this year.

They've come a long way The Noles swept UNC at home, but have been taken to five games a lot on the road. The Panthers have a shot. Go Pitt! May well be the best VB addition to the ACC.

I personally have no problems with it if they continue to lose it will sort itself out but I have watched them play some this season and they are good and on a given night could be a top 25 team but they are wildly inconsistent. If they play well on a good night they can compete and beat a lot of top teams.

There are a couple schools - Pitt & Maryland come to mind - which are starting to improve, and should already have decent volleyball programs...both in major metro areas with plenty of schools and clubs to draw from. Not sure why they've always underperformed in VB.

Minnesota hasn't NOT been ranked in like 4-5 years, correct? Next week could be the first time they aren't ranked in a long time.

They are looking to join Hawaii on power VB schools who are not being ranked for the first time in a long time this season. I still think those schools are on the cusp though lacking consistency the talent is on the squads they are both lacking somethings. Also it hurts when you graduate AA's

San Diego may be ready to be ranked again, Santa Clara seems to have the ability to win, Pitt was mentioned, Oregon State has shown talent...Colorado? The others who have came and went have their ups and downs. Maybe the next team in should be the winner of K State and OK? It may be that Mn might as easily win against Nebraska as they might lose against Iowa, they should be happy being at home, they play both sides much better there than on the road.

I'm shocked NE is ranked as high as they are.

Yeah, but I've read on this blog that Hawaii has never lost to Minnesota.

Kind of interesting how close Stanford and Texas are in total points (1495 to 1429) yet so far apart in 1st place votes (Stanford 55; Texas 4). Given how close the Stanford vs. PSU match was (and PSU is ranked 7th with 3 losses and 0 1st place votes) I'm not sure why voters are comfortable declaring Stanford so superior to Texas. Well, essentially based on points it means that everybody who has Stanford NOT at #1 has them at #2. Those voting for Texas do not all have them as #2 (or #1). So, Washington is getting some of those points. I am not sure the PSU match is overly relative. It is to some degree, but I think the major thinking lies on the number of ranked teams Stanford has beaten compared to Texas. If you want to look at individual matches like the PSU-Stanford one, then you also have to include other matches...like how Nebraska took Texas to 5 yet Stanford swept them easily. Both were played at Nebraska and within less than 3 weeks apart.

I'm shocked NE is ranked as high as they are. Agreed. They have the potential to be VERY good, but they are to inconsistent. They are 17-19th IMO
