I know the window for transfer is closed, but can she go into the portal due to the coaching changes?

I know the window for transfer is closed, but can she go into the portal due to the coaching changes? The time to enter the portal has closed, not the ability to transfer for anyone already in the portal. Reopens again in May. Coaching changes have no effect.

Saw a few glimpses of NPJ Forefront games at the Windy City Qualifier last weekend. From what I saw, Alexis Haury moved well and her sets were quick and deceptive. That team is loaded with talent, which includes: Kyleene Filimaua (Florida State), Alex Acevedo (Oregon). These three are the current Gatorade player of the year from the states of Washington, Idaho and Oregon, respectively. Is she setting 5-1 or on a 6-2 system? If it is 5-1, how is her blocking? Washington state has a number of very good OHs and in my opinion the best are Abby Harrell (Villanova) and Lauren Dreves (Auburn). Filimaua is 3rd on my list getting the POY nod in part based on her amazing comeback from a devastating knee injury. Perhaps the most fun player to watch is 5’5” Serena Paredo who has absolutely amazing hops.

Re local talent - looking a bit further into the future, I hear Kaitlyn Nguyen is turning heads at the libero position.

Re local talent - looking a bit further into the future, I hear Kaitlyn Nguyen is turning heads at the libero position. She is the best player on her U17 team and I think she is playing up 2 maybe 3 years.

I hope Tui does the same thing. I would LOVE for Tui to take a look at SerenaParedo. She was the standout at the PSR Power League last week playing OH but is a superior passer and quick as a cat. She hasn’t played club for the last 2 years but may end up being a terrific candidate to solve UW passing woes; that is until Nguyen gets there. And please Kaitlyn, please don’t go the beach route!!!!

Agreed. She will get offers from top schools - she must be a prime target for Washington's 2026 class. Unfortunately to pool of Northwest talent still hasn't picked up, and with volleyball growing nationally and now NIL, for volleyball specifically, players don't have much incentive to go out of region. I'd love to get Kaci Demaria (2025) but she's gonna get offers from everyone.

I'm watching NOJ Forefront vs Club V. Alexis Haury is indeed the real deal. Her decisions are good, she is deceptive, and she sets fast to all locations. What stands out to me is her serving; Club V struggling with her serves.
I cannot comment on her blocking as NPJ Forefront is running a 6-2. I can tell you that with Haury in NPJ makes runs and with her out they struggle. Gosh I hate 6-2 offenses.
Club Vs setter ain't bad either.

Re local talent - looking a bit further into the future, I hear Kaitlyn Nguyen is turning heads at the libero position. She’s excellent - not only holds her own against high level adult women’s teams in the competitive rec tourneys already but runs circles around them. She’s fun to watch play and she (and her family) Ian always genuinely kind to everyone.

Ironically, many of the beach program club directors fail to mention that.

I feel like Washington needs a new fan favorite. It doesn't have to be a national star or even the star for the team. Someone like a Jill Collymore or Gabbi Parker.
