When does richkern.com update the transfer summary page? It still has transfers listed from December 2013 and all the 2014 spring semester transfers with 2015 transfers on one list, but not with dates. I asked a similar question to Rich a few months ago and his reply was that he updates the transfer page in the fall when the new rosters come out and he is able to compares 2014 to 2015. That's my understanding of his timing but I am certainly not speaking on behalf of Rich. He does a fabulous job with providing a ton of useful information.

Started as Freshman. Strong blocker and her stats are on the VU website. No drama and sad to see her go.

You think Saurer will come in as a Freshman and replace Senior Libero McVey? Regardless, they have the talent in 2015 to be very good at passing and floor defense.
no offense to McVey but she isn't even on the same planet at Molly Sauer when it comes to ball control. So, yes she will take that job. A bit presumptuous aren't you, crowning an incoming freshman over a seasoned player who just posted 4 DPS last year and was 6th nationally with 5.6 DPS the year before at MSU.

I think that Sauer needs some improvement in defense. She needs to work on making better moves to the ball to pick up more balls. Her serve receive is so consistent though. The libero will be filled by whatever Anne wants more, serve receive or defense. If McVey can improve her serve receive then I think she has a good shot at keeping her spot.

To get a sense of how often elite players are transferring, I looked at the Senior Aces for the class of 2011. A full 25 of them didn't finish 4 years at their original schools. 4 of the Top 10 recruits included. Of those 25, 19 transferred and 6 went sand-only or just plain quit.
The Senior Aces for the Class of 2012 (graduating this Fall) is even further behind, with 27 of 99 already having moved on (99 because Mitchem's transfer from JuCo doesn't really count). Again, 4 of the Top 10 have left their original teams. 7 of the 27 were sand-only or quitters.
Senior Aces for 2013 are already at 20. 2014 is at 7 so far, I think.
Those numbers really are way higher than I was thinking. 1 out of every 4-5 of the very top players are "moving on".

It would really be interesting to know if there was a trend in whether the transfers were caused by a player not performing to expectations (also interpreted as not getting enough playing time at an elite program) or a high performing player wanting to be part of a better program.

Certainly not in the majority, but some actually transfer for other reasons; family issues, school doesn't have their major, homesickness etc...... It's not always about playing time even tho everyone would like to think it is!

The chances of them transferring from their original school are increasing so they may end up with you.

Taylr McNeil to Iowa from S.C. Wow. Wow, indeed. And Allie Monserrez from to Florida from SC. Things don't seem to be looking good for Swanson in Columbia. But it's very strange that Taylr's younger sister just committed to the Gamecocks this year. Maybe Taylr just wanted to be closer to home, and having her sisters nearby wasn't enough?
