In his interview on ESPN News yesterday, UCLA coach Al Scates picked BYU to win the 2003 title. His prediction was said to based on the Cougars' depth.
One wonders if Scates is considering other factors, namely:
1. The tendency of certain key Pepperdine players to choke at crunch time, as they did on Saturday past.
2. Marv Dunphy's uniquely peculiar practice of not subbing regardless of how poorly a player may be performing.
3. Pepperdine's poor performance in must-win matches in the past ten years.
4. The total lack of floor leadership on this year's Waves squad. Silent assassins, you say? Silent, I'll say. Let's see if the assassins make the trip to Long Beach.

If you have opinions of your own go ahead and state them without atributing them to someone who didn't state them and isn't here to agree nor deny them. Signed, The Ethics in Posting Police.

I heard UCLA's Al Scates got ticked that 2 USC players, Carson Palmer and Troy Polamalu, got picked in the 1st round of the NFL draft and UCLA's highest pick was in the 3rd round. Not UCLA's year.

i'd like pepperdine to win it. BYU won it two years ago, hawaii last year, and it's pepperdine's time, hopefully.

You say that Al Scates picks the cougars...
...I'm pretty sure that was a misquote....
...the actual quote is, "Al Scates picks Boogers."
And why shouldn't he, we all steal a pick now and again when no one is lookin'.

You really ought to move on. The talents you think you have are being wasted here. Fair enough. Let's see, I get up every morning and go for a 4 mile run. Then I lift some weights with a personal trainer. After that, I practice jazz on my piano for an hour, head off to work at my law firm for a few hours (where I get paid $$$ to work very little -- I charge $450/hr), and then I come back home to read and post a little on this board for entertainment (which make up less than 1% of my day). Then, I practice piano all afternoon. At night, I sometimes play jazz piano at some nightclub or wherever they have a piano at some hotel ballroom or other club. I basically play wherever they let me. Many times, I play for free just to get the experience. Oh yeah, I'm also building/renovating a house in the San Luis Obispo area. I do a lot of things for free because they interest me. So, where exactly should I move on to? I think I'm content with where I am.

Thats cool Rollshot. My story. I get up @ around 5-5:30 to get to work (Contractor) by 7. (Where I get paid $ for very much work ) Then about 3:30 I head over to the highschool I coach at. I go to a little broom closet of an office and check the board. I coach till around 6-6:30. Then I go back to my place, check the board and get ready for my next job. I DJ @ various clubs in Waikiki, I play till around 2-4am, then go home and get ready for the next day. Boy its hot today.

I wake up at 9:30 IN THE MORNING... have a cup of coffee. I look at the morning paper for Job openings and occasionaly make a phone call. At noon, I walk and collect my unemployment check and use food stamps to buy fatty foods and doughnuts. (I get very little foodstamps for doing absolutely nothing.) By 2 pm, I'm extremely intoxicated and need to take a nap. At 3:30 I wait for the high school girls to walk past my house. 3:35, I clean up. 5 pm I turn on TV and try to get reception. By 5:30 I get reception and watch reruns of Friends while eating old cheese. I also am working hard at playing the triangle for the local church choir. From 6:30-7:00 I sweep my home/RV clean of debris from the local landfill which finds it's way into my house when I open the door to frequenly pass wind. I am currently very single and lookin' for mrs. right. anyone who is interested can respond below.
I have nothing but free time to post on this board. call me.
