With 6 Youth National Team members the LBC could provide better competition than PSU and LEWIS are going to give.

I'm going to do a bold this, and actually defend PSU and Lewis in this situation... even if it was said as just a joke...
...LBC would get crushed as they would just be boys among a league of men. Experience and physical development would CRUSH LBC as well as ANY Junior Club team.
Keep Dreamin' home slice... they haven't proved anything at the next level yet.

FACT: Most guys that play college volleyball have JO awards.
FACT: JO volleyball isn't Collegiate Volleyball.
FACT: Few of the many guys from LBC in college volleyball will start and have huge impacts as freshman.
FACT: LBC would get SMOKED be any average college team. Welcome to the big leagues kid.

please tell me this is someone just trying to rile up heated responses and not a belief that LBC could actually be in the NCAA final four.

I'm prepared to give a good hard look at PSU and Lewis. I'm as anxious to see them play as I was a couple of years ago when IPFW and Hector Soto came to Pauley Pavilion and Hector LIT UP the place with his athleticism and talent. I'd never seen anyone jump as high nor hit as hard as him before. His injury was the only thing that kept them from the finals, IMO.
So there are always pleasant surprises from the Eastern teams.
What's unfortunate is that they "may" not be the 3rd and 4th best teams in the country. That's something only a true "Elite 8" style "final" tournament would reveal. It's the anual, (and legitimate) bitch every year. When is the NCAA going to wake up and create the "final" tourney of 8 teams that we'd all like to see?
Now, about the LBC, I'd surely take an all star team from their 2001 18's national championship team, their 2002 18's national championship team, their 2001 17's national championship team, including their All Tournament players and their string of Tournament MVPs and pit them up against some of the best teams in the country. I've heard they practice against LBS and hold their own. They may not beat BYU or Pepperdine, but I'd give them a fighting chance against the 2nd tier teams in the MPSF. A number of their former players are playing for some of the best MPSF teams. Next year will be an impact year in the MPSF for former LBC players.

FACT: For all their recruits and Fab 50 players(8), LBC has yet to win a tournment this year at their own level. Balboa, SCVC and Central Cal have all won at least one tourney. Overrated or Underachievers, the current group does not deserve to be mentioned with the past ones. And the lower divisions aren't doing much better.

That's right. LBC has several multi-talented positioned players. Every position is covered and strong. All covered by highly respectable players. It's a new LBC. They can set, they can hit, they can pass, they can block. They've been hanging low and you ain't seen nothing yet.

Every year it's the same comments about the LBC. Yes, it's a new team and a new year, but I'd put my money on them in spite of their fall matches. They were amongst the very top teams. Below is an excerpt from a poster on the VB Mag board that says it all. People hate the LBC like everyone else in the NBA hates the Lakers and the same for everyone in VB who hates UCLA. They find a way to win. Their coaches find a way to help them.
From VB Mag's site: Blake--- "If I were a betting person I'd put my money on LBC, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be prepared to lose it too. The past is no indication of the future, and this year's version isn't going to win because their predecessors won it the last two years. They'll have to realize that it's they who have to win it, not the ghosts of JOs past. So far, they've shown vulnerabilities, and have a lot to prove. I know that's their M.O., but those finals weren't exactly a cake walk in Louisville, so I hope they realize the hard work ahead before they or you or I can cash in a three-peat."

Come on guys ... get real, it was a joke. But it sure got ya talking'. Of course, these couldn't really fair well against guys 4 years older than them. It would be like 14's against the 18's. But I bet they could get a couple of good plays in! As far as tournaments, they have always been up there. They have yet to play SCVC 18's. I think Central Cal might have beat them once, but then the next tourney I know they beat them easily. Balboa was a major match, within a point or two. It's always been a close call between these four teams. Just like the movie On Any Sunday things can change....
I'm not sure of their past history, but I heard LBC 18's usually do not win a lot of tournaments. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's the way the like to do it. They don't show all their cards until JO's and then only their best play.
Besides, who's doing all the talking... not the LBC 18's. They've been sitting back listening to everyone else talk. I'm not hearing any bragging going on....seems like everyone else is doing the talking.
Seems like LBC is waiting for court time....

I'll inflate their egos just like the LBC parent or player that posted that wants me to do.
The LBC players are absolutely amazing, and if not for them college volleyball would likely be dropped as an NCAA sport. It it only because of their desire, hard work, extreme athleticism, instincts, stunning good looks, chisled features, and guts that we are where we are in college volleyball today. Everyone else is simply the slime of slime that walks this earth only as a means of giving LBC someone to beat down upon. I can only say enough kind words to the boys of LBC for the generosity they have shown towards all of us for not completely eliminating us from all existence. Our national program is in good hands volleyball fans, for LBC is devoted to the well being of our sport, a sport that would be no more without the courage of a few good men. They should be nominated for countless ESPY awards for their tenacity and determination they show each and every day at practice. Thank you LBC, for not only teaching me about the sport in which I love, but also teaching me a lot about who I am as a person. You've touched the lives of many, and you are an inspiration to us all.
There...that's what LBC wanted to hear...
Sure they beat up on Long Beach State... Long Beach state sucks. And for those of you that reside in Long Beach...maybe you can get someone to translate all the big words.

With 6 Youth National Team members the LBC could provide better competition than PSU and LEWIS are going to give. Nuff said Talk about not seeing what's in front of you all. This post is less about the lbc and all about the poster's feelings about (at least two) of the final four teams. And tigfan, c'mon dude. Yer a little over the top with all of that. For a guy who hasn't had much to boast about for years you sure come on as an elitist sometimes.

If you rearrange the letters of "The Long Beach Club Rules", you get "U Chug or Belch Teen Balls." What does it mean? I don't know.
What I do know is that not only would Penn State and Lewis mop up The LBC, but middle of the pack teams in the EIVA and MIVA would beat them too.
