Could you list the preseason poll as well? USC was picked 2 and ended up at 10? Wow.

Could you list the preseason poll as well? USC was picked 2 and ended up at 10? Wow. More than that, USC was essentially tied with Stanford for #1 in the pre-season poll. They had the same number of first place votes and only one point different in votes.

pac-12.com/article/2014/08/06/volleyball-coaches-vote-stanford-2014-preseason-favoriteArizona picked 9th, Utah 10th, and OSU 12th. The list of players picked as pre-season all-conference looks OK, mostly. Clearly Sybeldon was missed. Probably Marshall too. Maybe Lutz (perhaps in place of Howard?). Maybe Nelson or Scambray? Definitely Holt and Higgins won't be on the final list. Likely not Brenner either, I would guess. Probably not Nwanebu.

Kingdon, ARIZ Gardner, ASU T-Simp, COLO Bettendorf, OREG Marshall, OSU Ajanaku, STAN Bugg, STAN Burgess, STAN Lutz, STAN Lowe, UCLA Bricio, USC Dalton, UTAH Sybeldon, WASH Vansant, WASH

They just keep winning and winning, but because the system spreads the offense around so effectively, they don't get recognized.

I also have UW getting 3 on the HM (Nelson, Wade, Strickland), 2 All-Frosh (Scambray, Jones) and 1 Frosh HM (Tanner), plus POY, so not really sure you can say they're not getting recognized. Also, the ones not on 1st team don't really have the numbers for it during conference play, at least not to bump those that are there. You had more of a complaint last year when you won the conference.

Haven't looked at stats, so this is rather blind, but maybe Nelson in place of Dalton. Although Scambray as a 6-rotation player for UW is arguably more important. To add to it: MVP: Vansant Setter: Bugg Coach: Maybe something like a 9-way tie Libero: eh.... Strickland? Serve is a huge weapon and passing is at least as good/bad as Gilbert's Freshman: MK Marshall

If UW only has two all-conference players on their team, then for damn sure it must be the case that Vansant is so good she should be a slam-dunk as POY.

If UW only has two all-conference players on their team, then for damn sure it must be the case that Vansant is so good she should be a slam-dunk as POY. That's a non-sequitur. In the absence of winning the conference, theres no reason to bump UW players above other players who are more deserving of places on the 1st team. And 2 is more than any other team except Stanford (who have more exceptional individual performances). Imagine how good Lowe's case for POY would be if she had a 2nd all-conference player on her team (+3 all-conference HM caliber players).... And that's just the fact of the matter. Vansant does do so much, that most others on the team aren't asked to do as much, especially scoring wise. Nelson is efficient, but there's a negligible difference in hitting efficiency between her and Bettendorf and Dalton - who have to carry significantly higher scoring burdens.
