It is obvious that things have changed since Maturi left (and before he left, too). And I'm just talking about VB.

For the record, I'm referring to scheduling and the use of Williams Arena.
I have never heard anything about the VB program having a problem with how they are being treated. Quite the contrary.

There is an interesting article in the Mpls. Star-Tribune this AM by Jim Souhan which basically states that new AD Norwood Teague is basically just doing what he was hired to do( as what most major college ADs are doing these days) which is "to make money via football and men's basketball by raising money for football and men's basketball AND if he performs this task well he will be accused of undercutting women's sports and if he doesn't do this task well he will be fired." The article goes on to present philosophical questions as to the purpose of the University and how many of today's students are trapped in a system where they are forced/manipulated to piling up very large debt through student loans to graduate. The article is especially timely in light of the ongoing investigation as to possible Title IX irregularities involving the U of M. I would post the article but I am only semi-literate when it comes to technology, but I would recommend it for reading.

As a rule I find Jim Souhan clueless and largely unreadable, but the blind squirrel has found a nut here. (Of course he went on past that point to write an extra 400 words, but the first third was truth.)
Everything has been reduced to cash flow. A big reason this has appeared as a women's issue at the U is that they have the Title IX hammer and other cash-poor demographics don't have a similar tool. A great deal of higher ed is in deep weeds and needs some adult to step in and point the thing back towards the real goal of attainable education for the people. If that ends up turning on a gender axis, so be it. But it has to begin somewhere soon.

I loved your take on Souhan and the article. Both right on. Of course he had to pontificate as that's what they pay him to do.(Besides he can't help himself.)

She seems serious about getting away from the defensive specialist label. I have no doubt that she will continue to do fine as an outside in the Big 10, though. She might not put up the kill numbers she did in her high school or club days, but she is a solid attack option. I just watched the home Gophers/Northwestern match from 2014 yesterday, and I think that the match sums up her outside usage well. We have a lot of other attack options, which really helps her when she does get set and opens things up for her attacking.
Interesting, though, how Hugh mentioned that her future with Team USA/National Team likely lies in a libero jersey.

New commit, per Hugh's Twitter. Who could it be? I'm guessing they won't be joining this fall, or else he would tell us? Attachments:![](//storage.proboards.com/2107859/thumbnailer/6uCE3LQjPvRxWJpb0pLx.jpg)

She was selected to USA Volleyball's 20-player Girls’ Youth National Training Team for 2015, along with fellow commit Regan Pittman.

She's also a 2016, which is significant, imo.

Who are the 2016 recruits? I know Pittman, McLean, and now Hart, anyone else?
