Morey, H. Juley, and Duello are attending the USAVB tryouts in February. Presumably the latter two are trying out for the Junior National Team, and Morey for the Collegiate National Team. She made the Europe team last year, but chose to stay in Wisconsin practicing instead.

What are people's thoughts on spring competition? Like I said above, I'm wondering whether we even have a full lineup for competition given Romana's questionable status. Maybe we have a senior hang out and continue to play RS so we can scrimmage? Maybe it's just a spring of drills with other teams.

The only December grads were Jules and Dom. Everyone else isn't graduating until May at the earliest. So they're still around, and they still have eligibility left AFAIK, because they all started in the fall.

I imagine they'd turn Juley into an opp for scrimmaging purposes. (They don't need to set her ever, it's not like Carlini needs to work on the backsets). They can also just run Carlini in the front row the entire time, and have her rotate back to 4 from 2, with Juley in the DS spot.

I'm guessing its gonna be the latter, but I don't know. Court is the only one who can fill that spot who's still on campus, no? Deme graduated too?
It's a definite argument against these unbalanced recruiting years.
Well, they didn't really start as unbalanced, but it's put the team in a bit of a pickle for the long term (which is why I advocate Morgan and Juley redshirting).
A little history:
Mikaelsen was supposed to come in 2009. Something about the TOEPL, or eligibility kept her away. Original plan 2009-2012. Then on top of that, the medical redshirt. (add-on to 2014)

So you can see under the original plan it was a nice, balanced 4-person class of scholarships.
Yeah. I realize it is an accident of history...just unfortunate. Sheff will have to correct this...but I am selfishly impatient to see all these girls play!!
BTW, it's TOEFL, not TOEPL, the test of english competency. Funny that, because when I lived in Sweden for 4 months, it was all I could do to avoid feeling like a dumb american with everbody speaking in the Queen's accent. Didn't have to learn a lick of Swedish. Actually they wouldn't let me -- something about Swedish being a dead language and, incidentally, me being too stupid to learn it anyway (I'm interpreting a bit here).
I assumed everyone in Norway was similarly proficient by age of 14 or so.

Well, I'd love to seem them back for a bit. Interesting to see what happens.

This scheme could work. I also thought Erin might fill in at DS, but forgot we're talking scrimmages when sub rules can be relaxed. Interesting to see what Sheff decides in the end.
He may well decide to rest both Kriskova and Carlini, just to make absolutely sure they recover completely. They are both pretty important pieces for the coming year.
That said Carlini has already been in the gym working out according to her twitter.

Why on earth did I write TOEPL? I know better. I think because I have a colleague with a homophonic last name to TOEPL. My brain has been worn out lately.
Well, there was never a clear explanation as to the delay, and my understanding is she speaks something like 4 languages, and her English always seemed excellent. But oral English (or kitchen table language speaking, as it is sometimes called) is a bit easier than written. Badger Bill might have some history.
When I was in the Netherlands a number of years ago (yes, I know the Netherlands is not a Scandanavian country; my brain isn't that scrambled), everyone spoke English everywhere, and to each other, and on TV, without a discernible accent. I suppose when the native tongue is spoken by so few, and you want to travel, you have to be able to speak other languages, unlike us dumb Americans and our vast country. Anyway, I've been to Europe several times and I try not to talk or "act like an American."
BEFORE BREAKFAST: I HATE EVERYBODY. AFTER BREAKFAST: I FEEL GOOD ABOUT HATING EVERYBODY
As a Badger fan, I am eager to follow this team during spring season. Can someone pass along the schedule. Thanks!
There isn't one yet. If you read the discussion above, we're not even sure it's possible for there to be spring competition because we don't have a full lineup right now.
