Chisovnik, you proved yourself to be a closed-minded dimwit yet again. There's nothing wrong with LGBTQ pride. This is 2015, and if you think recognizing and celebrating gay athletes qualifies one to be a pig, perhaps you should reexamine your own myopic values. Like every great civil rights advancement, it all starts with visibility. Your post did nothing to celebrate or recognize gay athletes. All you did was make a vulgar joke. Do us all a favor and stop posting on this site. You're a pig and a moron. It wan't a joke, so I can't be blamed if you read it as such. Most of those athletes are publicly out, and the other ones in the community are well recognized. I've told you in the past to block me because it would be mutually beneficial. Your conservative biases gross me out substantially more than the way you felt about me putting together a team of women that share a common connection.

Like every great civil rights advancement, it all starts with visibility. I agree. Part of visibility is for a community to be able to laugh at themselves. We all do it. I'm sure your team would appeal to that certain group of women. That was the joke. I didn't find it hurtful, homophobic, or disgusting. Just in good fun. Carry on. But the poster stated that it wasn't a joke, so the whole premise of your argument above doesn't make sense.

Some fantasy you pleasured yourself to this morning? I have absolutely no problem with who any of these women decided to date/marry/etc. What I DO take issue with is you making vulgar comments about women based on their sexuality.

Some fantasy you pleasured yourself to this morning? Pleasured myself? What are you talking about, you perv? Your comment is completely out of line, and you know it. As a gay guy, I'm not even into women, so way to make yourself look like a finger-pointing FAILURE and SKEEZE! I remember when Cobra Magazine (a volleyball magazine aimed toward black athletes) did a spread about how the 2012 Olympic team had the potential to be an all-women-of-color team, and I remember you or someone else taking issue with that and saying that would be a "reverse-racist" team, when the article spoke about how such a team could inspire thousands of girls of color to pursue a dream in a team sport like volleyball. OFC small-minded people like you will always scoff and throw a tantrum when the historically oppressed want to become visible. It doesn't surprise me that you cried foul when someone from within the LGBTQ community wanted to identify and field a dream team of role models to countless LGBTQ individuals and our allies. Seriously, Chisovnik, your comments have been way out of line and offensive, especially the last one where you foolishly thought there was a sexually explicit innuendo happening by mentioning lesbian and bisexual role models. It's that kind of conservative mentality that keeps women seen as objects and as gratification for (straight) men's urges. It's 2015, and our Supreme Court will rule this year over gay marriage once and for all, and I believe your comments will be on the wrong side of history like they normally are. Unfortunately, there's not a way to block idiots like you on my phone, so do us both a favor and block me. I never want to waste my time by reading another one of your lame and judgmental posts, when you have ZERO authority on volleyball or social issues.

Your post about an all (alleged) lesbian team was taken out of context because most of us probably didn't know you're part of the LGBT community. Instead of coming off as someone who would be proud to see people of his community represented, you came off like you were making fun of gay people. You can't be pissed off at posters who mistook you for a homophobe and were just trying to defend these women.

Smh So for someone to celebrate LGBTQ athletes, one has to disclose his or her own sexual identity? I should never have had to disclose how I sexually identify to talk about a community (that I happen to belong to). Similarly, straight people who advocate for LGBTQ individuals are called "allies," and part of being an ally means they aren't expected to reveal their sexual identities either. Regardless, I didn't even have a sexual agenda; Chisovnik did by talking about "pleasuring yourself." Go ahead and block me too. We really don't deserve to see each other's posts. It's 56 degrees and sunny here, so the rest of you have a good day!

If chis were conservative as you suggest, do you think he'd have given a crap about your post? FWIW, I've never been characterized as conservative and I thought your initial post was in appropriate as well. The fact that you're gay doesn't excuse it IMO. The fact that you revealed your sexual orientation does to some extent although not totally. Let me ask you this. Had you read your post having been written by a straight man, would you have found it offensive?

No, I wouldn't, because my intention wasn't to conjure anything sexually explicit.

I'm personally not comfortable with outing people who haven't outed themselves. I think this sub-thread within the thread should come down for that reason. I'm pretty sure a few of the players on that list have never confirmed being gay, if they are, in fact, gay. If that's the case, it should be their choice to do so, not some anonymous poster's decision.
