Report on gostanford.com: www.gostanford.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30600&ATCLID=209931423Stanford did drop one of two exhibition matches in three sets. They will meet up with Santa Clara tomorrow at 9. Other scores from today: Santa Clara beat USF 3-2. Pacific beat Cal 4-1 (this guarantees Cal and Stanford will not meet this weekend). St. Mary's swept SJSU (not surprised).

Streaming a meaningless sand tourney? Surely you jest. Dude, if you are not interested in sand volleyball, then don't waste your time posting on this thread. It is not meaningless. There are people interested in sand volleyball. Wow. Big talk for a very little man. And don't call me "Dude" Shirley. BTW I was at the tourney. Is that ok?

Update on Burgess. Talked to her today. She's been out a couple of months with turf toe. She said she'd be back after spring break.

Stanford beat Santa Clara thus morning 3-2. They will take on the winner of SMC vs UoP as soon as that finishes.
Edit: Pacific beat SMC.

To post on the sand forum that this tournament is meaningless belittles the sport and the participants.

The #1 and #2 matches were as close as you can get. It is surprising to me Kennedy/Lutz have had the most impressive wins thus far based on scores.

Stanford 4 and 5 lost in straight sets. Stanford 3 won their first set.
Edit: but lost badly in set 2 and 3.

Pacific uses their indoor players for sand. They don't have sand only players.

Pacific is better than I expected, sweeping Stanford. Stanford #2 (Bugg & Vanjak) had match point at 14-11 in set three but lost 16-14. Stanford #1 (Birks & Howard) also went three sets after winning the second 22-20; but lost 15-13.

Santa Clara also bested St. Mary's, 3-2 to take third place in the tournament. Many very close matches during the day, going to extra points for all sets in the Stanford-SCU #1 and #2 teams. Pairs began in the afternoon with most #1 teams besting the #2 teams, though St. Mary's best lost in a hard fought match to Santa Clara's #2 team. UOP pairs remained tough. Should be some good sand volleyball to complete the weekend tomorrow.

To post on the sand forum that this tournament is meaningless belittles the sport and the participants. I never "claimed" to be a Stanford fan. I didn't know it required claiming. I was at the tournament Friday and Saturday, and I didn't root once for either Santa Clara or Sacramento State (OK, I clapped at least once after a Sacramento team made some good plays). I have never insulted fans or the players. I also never belittled the sport or its participants. Please stop all this nonsense.
