The recruitment of Benson--with only 1 year of eligibility--doesn't bode well for 6'4 Tiara Wallace. BG has always had a way of getting the best out of his players and perhaps Barber will be more effective this year playing for the Beach. LBSU may not be as loaded as last season; however, this year's team certainly has the potential to finish in the top 3 in conference and to qualify for the NCAA tournament.

I don't think they will finished top 3. I'm hoping they will, but other teams are returning a lot more firepower!

As much as I want my Team to win (Hawaii) it all, i liked the fact that LBSU took the conference overall coming out perfect in the conference. That's to show how despite all odds BG had to deal with after returning to the 64 team tournament. after missing two years it definitely showed a lot of people especially far and wide that LBSU still has it and not only that from being pushed and shoved these years after Hawaii jumped in the conference they pulled out on top. IT was the 2014 season that LBSU won it all and it is now 2015, I hope only for the best for the 49ers as they try to step up their game and make the Big West a conference not to be mocked by other big league names. all the best 49ers, and give my team team a run for their money again. Much love and aloha from hawai'i.

So with the roster pretty much finalized, what do you guys think will be the line up this upcoming fall? The only locks in my opinion are Hudson at setter and Murray at one of the middle spots. I do think Lawmaster has a strong case for that starting libero spot with the Big Ten experience that she has had. All of the other positions are question marks in my opinion with all of the new talent on this team.

it's so hard to guess at the line-up
the OPP position is really up in teh air
my guess is
Hudson @ setter, Murray @ MB, Brinke @ one of the OH's are proven commodities
the other MB has good competition with Atkinson, Benson, Grahovec, Wallace - can't teach Atkinson's height, LB is very dep at middle, it's why I wonder if Murray might slide to the OPP
Barber is proven @ D1, so could be the other OH, plus the slew of frosh
as to libero & DS, Lawmaster is likely to be in the rotation as a DS/serving sub, but don't know about libero, LB needs more athleticsm out of that position, although she's got experience

If she can be a reliable passer then I feel like she will take that spot. Otherwise, in my opinion, its whoever can pass and play 6 rotations, which could be one of the freshman. I think Atkinson at the opposite could be interesting. I believe she played that position in high school so she has a little bit of experience playing that position. Plus having her as a blocker could be really effective

The only given is Hudson at setter. Murray is as close to a lock as there is with this team but she will be challenge by a good group of newcomers at her position. Atkinson will play somewhere because she is probably the team's best attacker. The rest of the roster will be competing for the remaining open positions. This is as wide open as it has ever been.

I agree Jenelle Hudson is a lock at setter. Also, 6'2 MB Ashley Murray will start as will as 6'2 OH Anete Brinke. Also in the mix to start at MB or RS will be 6'5 redshirt frosh Sherridan Atkinson. Senior transfer Hayley Benson--6'4, Ball State, All MAC 1st Team, AVCA All Region--will likely start in the middle. BG has a lot of options on the left side; however, he may go with experience with 6'0 junior Marquette transfer Nely Barber. The biggest question marks will be in the back row. Returning players Lindsey Lawmaster and Sarah Watanabe appear to have the inside track at starting. Highly regarded, 2015 Senior Aces Sarah Miller and Mykah Wilson will be given serious consideration to start at libero or DS. LBSU lost a great deal through graduation and transfers. However, the Beach will be in the mix to defend their title this season.

Everyone expects to see Brinke in the starting lineup but I would bet that she isn't, maybe at the start but after a couple of matches I see a change. She can play all around but is very weak on the attack and is just a so so blocker. The only thing going for her is that she knows the system and Brian likes to have one player on the LS play all the way around. However, this team needs production on the left and she has not developed into a good hitter, at least by the close of the spring season.

Although not a terminator, I thought Brinke played well during conference. I believe she will start because BG doesn't have a lot players with experience on the left side--other than Brinke and Marquette transfer Nele Barber. Incoming freshman Megan Kruidhoff could be an option as she is also a six rotation player.

I am interested to see what role Kruidhoff plays next year. She could definitely work her way into the starting line up, but we will have to see how good her passing and defense are at the college level. I believe that she will work hard to improve her skills though. She is a great player to have!
