After beating #10 Pacific 4-1 and now ranked #13 are they the highest ranked team with no sand only players? Shame they aren't playing any matches at home, hopefully this encourages the athletic department to build a few courts once the sport is officially sanctioned.

If you are looking at the DiG poll than Washington is second highest behind Pacific. In the AVCA poll Nebraska is the highest ranked team with no sand players.
I'm a little shocked that they were able to take all three matches. But looking at their duos, they all sound like good tandems.

LMU is somewhere in the Top 10 without any sand-only players. Regardless, glad to see the Huskies out there competing. I won't get a chance to see any of their matches this season, which is too bad as the pairings I've seen UW use would be interesting to watch. Edit: Come to think of it, I guess that isn't true any more since Betsi Metter is technically a sand only player now, having used up her indoor eligibility.

since we're talking (my) Seattle/Huskies. they used to tease me "garut" back in the day, too, on occasion, but that was eons ago. UW has strategically placed pairs for 2015 indoors. they're short in competition(s) and this is what's last been Golden Gardens' proposed: (sans the weather) IF they wanted to really challenge the nation, Vansant - Tanner is their best team.

How difficult is it to build a sand volleyball court? How much would it cost?
Other than the minimum depth of 12 inches, I know nothing about it.

Betsy Metter, Taylor Akana, Anne Marie Taylor, and Taylor Scioscia are Sand only at LMU.

I would have to strongly disagree with your opinion on vansant/tanner being their best pair.

I live in PDX, but have not been to Golden Gardens, is it better than Alki Beach? I like the visibility of Alki and it's fun place to play even if the sand is a bit rough.

GG is 15 minutes from campus. --- A 2 is out of a job in Spokane this year for someone from the beach. go and "strongly" it's ur 'imo', more power to you. lol. KV is a waay better ball handler than Nelson and BT, unlike Strickland fuki slam/Kui/papa'i/bang a gong with all one's might each time at spike..well, BT has her accuracies in placement learned in San Clemente. they serve Strickland and are doing fine; they'd serve Tanner (away from Vansant). She CAN hit.

Sand is definitely better at GG, but it's quite a ways from any commercial establishments. Both AVP and NVL are running tournaments in Seattle this year, but I haven't yet heard if either one is using Alki or GG for either qualifiers or tournaments. They might also just build a beach somewhere downtown.

I have a feeling it'll be downtown to Maximize exposure. Alki would be nice I just don't think they have the room.

You have to hike from the end of the #44 route (32nd Ave NW & NW 54th St) or from the end of the #48 route (32nd Ave NW & NW 85th St). There is also limited parking at GG - not a problem if just adding additional recreational courts (which I believe is the plan), but would be for a tournament with lots of spectators.

Kinda hijacked the thread, but I am partially to blame. if not GG, then either eastside or you build your courts. The last AVP in Seattle was at Alki I believe. Didn't go over super well in the neighborhood due to alcohol sponsors and noise, but that's been a number of years. Parking at Alki is non-existent, though the proximity to some local restaurants, bars etc. is nice.

They've practiced and scrimmaged at GG. I suppose they could hold a dual there, but I don't see anything bigger than that. UW budgeted $400 for planning a sand volleyball facility, but so far nothing more.
