Will anyone post in here other than me? We shall see.
In 2015 I have seen the following stage musicals:
Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - love this show, but this was not my favorite cast Pippin - Sorta weird. A cross between cirque de solei, a magic show and a circus. Pretty amazing stunts. Cinderella - loved it. Chicago - saw it last night. Great songs and dancing. Lot of fun.
Seeing Motown in a couple weeks. Newsies in Tucson the end of April.
In another life I'm pretty sure I was on Broadway. I mean in a show, not just walking down the street.

I may have to take that up as I get closer and closer to batty old lady status I have forced my entire family into going to a musical with me every at first they really grumbled but now they love it. I actually made my husband watch "Once upon a mattress" with me just the other night. It is a favorite of mine for a lot of reasons. Carol Burnett is incredible has played both Winniefred and the Queen. You can watch both teleplays on you tube. Until the kids are off my payroll you tube pandora at the gym and once a year show are how I get my fix.

I love musicals. Probably the only straight man who does. The problem with stage musicals is that their cost is disproportionate to the entertainment. I love them but not for $100. I could have several buffets for that price.
I've seen:
Rashomon (1980-ish) in Honolulu, HI <--not a musical Children of a Lesser God (1982-ish) in Washington, DC <--not a musical Cats (1983-ish) in Boston, MA Victor Victoria (1995) on Broadway The Sound of Music (1998-ish) in a local theater The Lion King (2005-ish?) in San Francisco, CA
Various shows in Las Vegas: David Cassidy Donny Osmond
(very embarrassing to admit the last two)

In David Cassidy's show, he paused once in a while to talk to the audience. Used a lot of self-deprecating humor to make fun of his career that nose-dived after The Partridge Family went off the air.

I was a member of his fan club. Paid money for a poster book and "recorded personalized message just for you". My tween self expected something more personal than "to all my fans out there". I cried my sympathetic dad said to me "you have just learned the lesson buyer beware"

On Broadway the only music (or any Broadway show) I've seen is Steven Sondheim's Passion back in 1994. The show was well reviewed, but it didn't perform well at the box office and closed after less than a year. I'd bought the cast recording and knew all the music. I guess the surprising thing to me was that that there was a brief topless scene, and the actress (Marin Mazzie) had spectacular ta-tas.
I've seen a few other musicals, including the touring version of Guys and Dolls in 1992, as well as local production of Chess. I went with a bunch of friends, and the lead actor playing The American had long blonde hair and looked (and talked) like a surfer. His rendition of One Night in Bangkok was really odd for anyone who knew the Murray Head version.

Oooooo-Once Upon a Mattress. Gotta look that up. Loved that when I was young.
Yes, Wolf, musical theatre is not a cheap hobby/obsession. And I'm a snob - the local productions just don't cut it. The high school down the street does do an amazing job and I spend $5 every year to see them.
Most I've ever spent was $175 to see the closing night of "Wicked" in LA. Worth every penny.
I won't list all the shows I've seen - it's bordering on ridiculous.

They are cheesy, but really talented. David Cassidy - be still my heart.

It was a one night only stage production filmed in London. I just didn't get it. But the song "I Knew Him So Well" is on repeat for me on Spotify. One of favorites to sing in the car - loudly.

West Side Story. Bernstein, Sondheim, Robbins. Every other musical pales in comparison.

I had a really hard time understanding their cockney accents! Chorus Line is on my bucket list.

Spamalot on Broadway might be my favorite theater experience. Definitely worth a lot more than a bunch of buffets. Also enjoyed 1776 as a kid--have not seen it recently in a theater.
