2020-2021 season has been announced summer: the donna summer musical, september 2020 charlie and the chocolate factory, december 2020 tootsie, january 2021 harper lee's to kill a mockingbird, february 2021 mean girls, march 2021 hades town, june 2021 and.... wicked, april - may 2021...have to renew my season tickets to get a crack at these tickets
Wicked might be the best musical I've ever seen. IDK how different the touring set and effects are from the one in the Gershwin in NYC but the technical stuff alone makes it worth seeing, not to mention the whole musical part of the show. I’ve seen it 15 times 😀, so I’m a bit of an expert. Really the only thing missing from the Gershwin is the trap door where Elphaba comes up and Fiyero appears at the end. But it’s not that big of a deal. Other than that, sets look the same to me.

Be aware that each actor plays 2-4 parts. I finally caught on about 10 minutes in 🤪. It’s such a great show. Bring some tissues.
I’m interested I Hadestown and Mean Girls, which is here in March, but I don’t have tickets yet. I really enjoyed Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Donna Summer, Tootsie - meh Mockingbird-hmmmmm Wicked-favorite show ever, but I think 15 times is enough.

The best performance I've seen was Cynthia Erivo in The Color Purple. It was transcendent. The clip below doesn't do it justice, but it's still great.

I love musicals on film but not musicals on stage. They're very pricey and held far far away, e.g., San Francisco, San Jose. The parking situation is not ideal. Once in a while, local community theaters hold musicals but they generally suck because the talent pool is, well, lacking in the talent department. On the other hand, I went to see a local community production of The Sound of Music a few years ago and while everyone in the cast sucked, one guy really stood out and you could tell he was talented and had the "it" factor. After all these years, I still remember that guy (but not his name) while I forgot almost everything else about that musical that evening. In the past 20 years, I've seen three musicals -- Beach Blanket Babylon (San Francisco), The Lion King (San Francisco), and The Sound of Music (local community production). Before that, I've seen Victor Victoria (New York, NY) (w/ Julie Andrews!), Cats! (New York, NY), Children of a Lesser God (Washington, DC), and Rashomon (Honolulu, HI), and a few others I can't remember. The last two were not musicals but dramas. In Las Vegas, I've seen a couple of magic shows (e.g., Lance Burton), David Cassidy's show, and some others I've forgotten. ... Do you like Carole King? If so, I’d recommend Beautiful. I think youd like it. Worth the drive and money, IMO. Also my husband liked it, and I had to drag him there kicking and screaming. Seeing it again Friday night, btw. Carole King is great. The first time I listened to Tapestry, I loved it -- and I can't say that about a lot of albums.

the last show of the season, a bronx tale, will not proceed as planned. originally scheduled for may 5 - 10, it will either be rescheduled or canceled entirely
