Hooker has zero chance of coming back for 2016. However, intertestingly enough, there was a surprise setter in the gym the other day... What do you mean by that ?

As horrible as this sounds, I'd rather explain to the rest of the world that our star player couldn't make it to the Olympics, because... a. ...she's recovering from a slight injury. b. ...she's doing time for giving HolidayHusker a concussion after slapping him so hard. (<3 u fellow HH) c. ...Fawcett and Murphy are hands-down better players. d. ...she quit the sport altogether. It's a disappointment that I have to finish that statement with "our coach couldn't find a diplomatic way to include Destinee."

Whatever the reason she isn't on the team it's probably for the best. Inflated egos in players can affect team chemistry and can be harmful for the team as a whole. Remember, this is a team sport, it's not all about Destinee. And, her ego is very inflated. Good riddance.

Remember, this is a team sport, it's not all about Destinee. And, her ego is very inflated. Good riddance. As polarizing as she may seem at the public level and her social media snafus Hooker is the best OPP player the USANT has seen in the last 20 years and quite arguably in the history of the program. She was, IMO, the reason the USANT rose to the top last quadrennial. Her progression and adaptation to the OPP position directly correlated with the team's success. Beyond the gold medal match, which is all anyone seems to recall, she was the USANT's most prolific scorer and dominant. She's won titles in cups and championships in Korea, Brazil, Puerto Rico and Russia. She's probably done better than most if not all of the current USANT besides Jordan Larson. On paper, she undoubtedly merits inclusion in the NT. All of this talk about chemistry and "team culture" is over exaggerated. These women spend far more time on their professional teams than they do in the USANT during the summers they train together. Whatever "culture" that people are referencing is fleeting and can easily be curated with top players in the gym. The USA basketball teams spend virtually zero time training as a unit and are able to come together and win golds consistently without all of the subjective "chemistry" and "team culture" talk that people constantly reference with the USA volleyball team. They proved they don't "need" her by winning the WCH, but IMO that team looked nowhere near the level of the USANT from late 2010-12 and their performance throughout the tournament was not convincing. While they will certainly contend and potentially could win the gold, it's unfortunate that the best players that the country has to offer will not be on the floor.

You're making it seem like Karch actually has to do an unprecedented amount of work to get Hooker on the team. I don't think if he reaches out to her, Destinee will say "No, only if you do this or this or this for me." Hooker has said on twitter that "it's not up to her" if she plays for the national team. It makes me think that all Karch really has to do is call or even just invite her to practice with the team. If she truly causes more problems than help the team, then sure, exclude her.

To be quite honest, she probably doesn't even make my top 20, especially when she made some remarks about my favorite volleyball player of all time (Logan Tom). I just want the USA volleyball team to have all the best players necessary to win the gold.

You would welcome a player that has trashed her teammates on multiple occassions just so we can win? Do you realize how sad that sounds.

Like I said earlier, I don't think it's going to take a lot of "begging" to get her back on the team. Also, from what I've read, the remarks she had made were taken down and she apologized for them. I'm sure she has learned from her mistakes. I'm saying don't completely eliminate her as an option to have for Rio. What harm will it do to invite her to practice with the team? If it really doesn't work out, then it doesn't work out.
