Tennessee (16-1, 6-0 SEC) has improved grealty this season and is beating up on the weaker SEC teams....But what's up with Georgia (10-5, 3-3 SEC), South Carolina (10-5, 3-3 SEC) and Arkansas (7-8, 5-1 SEC) this year? Alabama is 3-3 in the SEC and is ranked ahead of these 3 teams.

Auburn wins in 5. They come back from down 0-2. Ole Miss held 2 match points at 29-27 in game 3, lost 32-30 and then crumbled, losing 30-20 and 15-7 in the 4th and 5th. Auburn gets out of the cellar, now tied with Ole Miss at 2-7, but they have the tiebreak.

Question for the USC fans. I see that Panzau and Santos split time setting. Is USC running a 6-2? Is this a new thing or have they been doing it all season, or did one of the setters get injured tonight?

Gator,
The Gamecocks other setter, Alexis Thompson, had a knee injury at the end of spring and had surgery. They started the season with a modified 6-2, with Panzau setting 4 rotations. They are now playing a traditional 6-2(from what i can tell) with Panzau as a primary passer and playing right side also. Santos played libero last year and was converted after Thompsons injury.

Gator,
I am not sure if I could stand watching the game in person. I will be back in CARDINAL LAND, watching the World Series and watching the Gamecocks vs Florida on the gametracker. I sure hope South Carolina can play with some sustained intensity and give Florida a game.

Gator,
Florida pounded our butts today.......with yet another line up for the gamecocks.......looks like they went back to a 5-1. put sarah morgan back to hitting instead of defense.....very frustrating for Carolina fans....but not for you, i suspect.

I was worried about Florida possibly having a hangover from the win on Friday. They kinda did, but they didn't need to play well to win today. From all accounts and I only listened on the radio, USC was just bad. A lot of balls hit in the net, hit out of bounds, double contacts, bad passing. USC is still young, I think they'll be pretty good next season.

SEC Player of the Week Erin Heffner Senior • OH • Alabama
Erin Heffner helped lead the Tide to the first SEC weekend sweep of the year. She recorded a team high in kills in both matches and extended her double-figure kill streak to 35 consecutive matches. She also served up 11 aces in two matches, including a career high six against Ole Miss.
Heffner's Totals Last Week
Games Kills Hit % Digs Aces BA TB 6 40 .351 17 11 3 3
Heffner's Averages Last Week (per game)
Kills Aces Digs Blocks 6.67 1.83 2.83 0.50
SEC Defensive Player of the Week Bailey Veit Junior • MB • Auburn
Bailey Veit's solid defensive play guided Auburn to a 2-0 week in SEC play. The junior led the Tigers to their first road SEC sweep since the 1998 season. In her first start at the libero position, Veit collected a career high 20 digs against Ole Miss. She averaged 3.88 digs for the week.
Veit's Totals Last Week
Games Kills Aces Digs 8 1 1 31
Veit's Averages Last Week (per game)
Digs Aces 3.88 0.12
Just gotta wonder about these selections. Michelle Chatman hit .500 for the week with 22 kills against UT and USC(much tougher opponents than Ole Miss and MSU, which Heffner faced) and she had 13 blocks in those 2 matches. Anyone who saw the match knows how dominant she was on Friday night and yesterday as well. Marcie Hampton had 20 kills, 1 error this weekend in her 2 matches, 7 blocks and she had 32 digs(4.57/game), much better than Veit had. Makes no sense at all. Florida should've had at least the player of the week, if not the defensive player of the week. Collymore and Williams didn't play well yesterday, so I wouldn't include them.
Oh, I know they like to spread the wealth, but weeks when Florida plays the bottom feeders in the league and they put up great numbers, they are rarely rewarded. Only when they face the upper echelon teams in the league. They did that and should've been rewarded.
Stepping off soap box now.
