The stat I was most impressed with last night was that she had three blocks. During the first week I was like YIKES. It's great to see improvement like that week to week from such a young, inexperienced player. Really impressed with the adjustment there. She had the cleanest block stats, according to the FIVB stats: Karch indicated in the post-match press conference that USA adjusted the block to try to contain Goncharova, but Russia's setter was also pretty bad for a good portion of the match. I'm enjoying a leisurely Saturday, but I don't understand how the quotation used above relates to my statement? She is not a middle or outside so she is never lined up with Goncharova, except for maybe one rotation where Goncharova is in position 4. She did have the cleanest blocking stats. There was one rally where Foluke moved from Left to Opp in a sequence of maybe 5 times and had soft blocks that was World class and not reflected in the stats. But, if you watched the match versus Turkey her blocking was cringe worthy. I'm 5'7 and could have put my hands in a better place, gotten better touches or set the block better than she did that first week.

Is Harmotto a lock or does her health make her vulnerable? Based off some of the commentary, she seems to be a lock. She took off last season following the world championship to rehab and get healthy, and said in a post match interview that she's feeling great. The staff is monitoring her jumps, and in her upcoming pro season, her contract limits her play to champions league only for purposes of maintaining her strength. So barring an actual injury that everyone is subject to, I think she's a lock in spite of her prior issues.

The attachment link appeared at the end of the post, not in the middle as I thought. So perhaps if that had happened, it would have been clearer that I was agreeing with you about Lowe's blocking, and then Karch's comment might have appeared to be more in the context of the overall block stats.

I've signed on to inform all of you that Karsta Lowe will be going to Rio de Janeiro in August of 2016 to participate in the Games of the XXXI Olympiad.
Have a great day.

Without a doubt, Kreklow's the best Minnesota player that Mike Hebert didn't reel in. Missouri's coaches might have had a slight advantage over Hebert, in Kreklow's recruitment. My memory is hazy on this and I'm sure that was a factor, but they had Tabberson in 2009 and McNeil for 2011. It may have just been the wrong year for a setter. But she definitely turned out to be a great setter, one they sure could have used.

You hint at it pretty much here, but curious how much of Lowe's success last night do you attribute to Kreklow's decision making and location? Both were sharp.

I thought she set really well, but it wasn't my intention to focus on that match. The fact she is starting for the NT (and had a great career at Missouri) is all I need to wish she had been a Gopher.
