It's interesting that against teams that block really well when they have their best players both Murphy and Lowe struggle alot, as well as the other pin hitters. They will neeed to get better at dealing with teams that adjust blocking schemes throughout a match if we want to win Gold. Brazil at their best, China...etc.. they won't let Lowe, Murphy, Hill, etc any of them hit the way they normally like to, and they will make better backcourt adjustments as well. It's not going to be anything like this week at all. ...........? I thought Russia is a pretty good blocking team and Hill and Lowe hit fairly well against them...

lol at Kevin Barnett... "Karsta Lowe likes to go hard cross angle on the high ball as teams get more tape on her they'll figure that out"... Ummmm she's played in almost every Grand Prix match. That's a lot of tape. you left out part of what barnett said, which is that opponents will start to figure out her tendencies with more tape, especially against teams with their better lineups. i'd have to agree. there's a difference between having a better scouting report against lowe, and having the personnel out there to slow her down. most teams didn't have their A teams here. and even lowe acknowledged that the competition only gets better after this.

What a phenomenonal international debut for Lowe! Some may disagree and feel she struggled against big blocks or that a good scouting report will alter her future performances, but I see nothing but success for team USA with her on the court. In my opinion, there's no question as to who will be starting at the World Cup and in Rio, but there is a question as to who will back her up. Fawcett played lights out at the Pan Am.

Agreed. I think her personal history of walking on to UCLA getting to this point in her vball career speaks to this. I don't see her settling or becoming complacent. She still has so much room for growth and seasoning and she's starting from an already elite level. Good job Karsta and Team USA!

Karsta will be joining a new pro team that will emphasize a different system and regimen that she will have to adjust to, and then return to Team USA next year and re-adjust again. Next summer is when her place in the scheme of things will be clear (same can be said for Hodge-Easy). There may be a few bumps along the way, but everything Karsta has shown so far suggests that she's up to the task.

I wounldn't be surprised if they didn't keep a quick pace out to Karsta via Hagglund during their time in Italy.

Amazing to think that Karsta Lowe was only a WALK-ON at UCLA her first season(s)? and now she is MVP of the World Grand Prix!
I know that Mike Sealy gets a lot of heat on this board, but kudos to him and his staff for seeing the diamond in the rough and helping develop her into the player she is.
Also great to see Kreklow get some recognition! Well deserved!

I know it wasn't a top match in the last USA vs. China, but Megan Easy had the highest 'kill percentage' and 'serve receive percentage' for Team USA per FIVB stats.
