Kind of surprised they chose 4 middles and only 3 outsides. Congrats to all of the athletes, very well deserved! Isn't Stone projected to play outside or opposite in college? So I can see her on the pins rather than in the middle. Or maybe the coaching staff likes her versatility.

Congrats to everyone who made the team! All deserving. Just a little surprised that Gia Milana and Lauren Stivrins didnt made the team.
I hope Lexi Sun proves everyone wrong, especially with her serve-receive game. I watched her extensively in GJNC less than a month ago and she was always targeted by serves and had quite a few shanks. There is no denying though that she is the best attacker in prep, IMHO. So with having only 3 OHs on the line up plus Plummer, I think she will play at the left side.
Stoked for Morgan Hentz. Beat out a couple of previous liberos for GYNT to make this team. She was virtually unknown a year ago (atleast from my limited prep volleyball info) ..and now has the chance to become the starting libero of Team USA.

I have heard she has been at the top of that class in her position for a couple years. Congrats and good luck to the team.

I really hope she works on her SR game extensively the next couple years. She could be a very good potential OH for the national team if she can learn to pass better.

Lots of talented players all battling for a few select spots. 2017 Brionne Butler earning one of those MB spots is great for her; will be interested to see if she is used at opposite at all.

I'm very surprised that Stivrins, Shook, and Milana didn't make the team. It must have been a very competitive tryout.
Anyone else nervous about our passing? I assume both Sun and Lanier will start but neither of them are very good passers.

She is a pretty good passer based on what I've seen in Beach Volleyball but it's somewhat different. Haven't seen her in serve receive indoors though. It'd be kinda weird, but if they need her to pass then she can do it

It'd be kinda weird, but if they need her to pass then she can do it Plummer was used 6 rotations on last years YNT. She received serve and, ironically, had the highest passing numbers on the team per official NORCECA stats. She is an outstanding passer and may be tested early but probably not targeted as the tournament progresses. Lexi will be fine. She is actually a pretty good passes. She was the only real attack threat on Coast 18 so she was constantly targeted to wear her down. She would make errors when fatigued. This team will have at least four realistic hammers in every rotation.

She can dig really well and probably has improved because of her beach volleyball experience. I agree that Lexi passes decently, but if they constantly target her then i think she starts to shank it and feel the pressure.
