Man this world Championship is really bragging on. It's losing my interest I don't like it when people brag, but when a tournament is bragging...that is just obnoxious!

To lose on a clear touch has got to suck. Really boring match between Evandro and Reindeer. Essentially which giant with shoddy ball control will screw up the least often. I get the old school/new school issue is dead but when Evandro is playing defense and that isnt dooming his team, that should tell people there is a problem.
Lot of lumbering in this match. Theo up next so dont expect that to stop

Theo and Nick played awful and Allison was a monster. Theo may have had a block but I cant remember it.

Sort of rabbit trailing, when is ROsie/Dalhauser going to be ready. Really hope they can stay healthy because I think an injury that gives even a limited break to either pretty much knocks them out of Olympic qualifying. Last I heard from Phil he was hoping to return in Japan

That is consistent with tournament registrations. Were never registered for Gstaad, but they are registered for the Japan Grand Slam.

Has to be a big relief for the Alison/Bruno to earn a berth to the Olympics on their home soil. Counted at least 3 opportunities for BRA to close out the set VS NED until they finally made it on top

Will the Brazilian federation honor the win and let Allison and Bruno have the spot?

My understanding was that Brazil did not recognize Worlds in terms of guaranteeing one of the two spots for either mens or womens...I believe US would have and that would have been a real shake up if Theo/Nic could have pulled it off...

Yeah, my understanding is technically it just earns your federation a spot.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Bruno/Alison ended up as one of the top 2 Brazilian teams in the "Olympic Rankings" anyway. I just have a hard time believing Ricardo/Emanuel will hold up and get enough podiums to finish above them. Both teams have played 5 events and Alison/Bruno are 220 points up. Long way to go, but I think you will slowly start to see Alison/Bruno (and Pedro/Evandro) pull away further from Ricardo/Emanuel.
The bigger story in my mind would have been if Lima/Fernanda could have pulled off the win. The federation obviously does not want them to win given the entries so far this year (unless there is another story I'm unaware of like early season injury to one of them).

THis from USA volleyball: QUALIFYING FOR RIO OLYMPICS – THE BASICS There are four ways to qualify for the Olympic Games, the first was at the Beach World Championships, June 26-July 5, 2015. Brazil’s men and women claimed the available one spot per gender by winning the titles. Through FIVB rankings – Top 15 in both genders by June 12, 2016, based on points from Jan 1, 2015 to June 12, 2016, from top 12 tournament finishes. There is a maximum of two pairs per gender, per country that could be gained here. Continental Cup – One spot per confederation available, event is June 20-26, 2016. If country has gained two spots per gender between World Championships and FIVB rankings, they cannot compete here. FIVB Continental Cup Qualifier – Teams finishing first or second at this event can earn one spot, event is July 4-10, 2016. If country has gained two spots per gender between World Championships, FIVB rankings and Continental Cup, they cannot compete here. Brazil has two spots secured for both men and women – the host country is guaranteed one quota place per gender, the other spot came from winning the World Championships. www.teamusa.org/USA-Volleyball/Features/2015/July/07/Beach-Update-Gstaad-Major-Pan-Am-Games

Is earnign a spot for your federation with a tournament win really a big deal to the US? They can't have more than 2 teams go in each gender and it would be a complete shocker if the US didn't get 2 teams to qualify for each gender for the olympics regardless.

On the men's side, between Phil/Rosie, Jake/Casey, Tri/John, and Nick/Theo there are very likely two teams qualifying via FIVB points. I'm a bit less confident about the women's side. April/Kerri, of course (as long as Kerri's shoulder doesn't fall off). But I can see it being a struggle for a second team - neither Fendrick/Sweat or Day/Kessy are locks to earn a second spot.
