I don't think it was referring to the love of the badgers but more how carlini is looked at as second comming of Jesus. That's what's over top I believe I'm completely confused. I point out that Carlini isn't obviously hurt but is having connection problems and I'm criticized for thinking she is baby Jesus? It doesn't make any sense. I was referring to fans in general, not specifically you. I'm interested to see how she does this year without Thomas. My question would be is she really that good or did Thomas make her look that good.

Isn't "over the top with love for your team" the very definition of being a fan? I don't understand. I don't think it was referring to the love of the badgers but more how carlini is looked at as second comming of Jesus. That's what's over top I believe That's the only part that isn't over the top, actually.

First of all love the Badger fans. Love having Wisconsin be a power again. This might help increase Badger fans' appreciation for the talent they just lost to graduation. A setter can only do so much.
I disagree with "no business playing WKU early" -- I think scheduling teams like that is great. You WANT measuring stick games early. You might even not mind losing one or two early. Wisconsin has a lot of young players who are learning some important things about big-time volleyball this weekend.
Last thing on anybody's mind should be RPI. It should be developing the players, showing them the intensity that is needed to win at this level. WKU is like a lot of mid-level Big Ten teams that will battle you and if you're trying to sleepwalk a little, you lose -- even at home. Not that they were sleepwalking, they just have work to do.

If you're on here looking for people making sense, i've got some real estate in Western PA I would like to talk to you about!

WKU has a history of upsetting good teams in the preseason; it has owned Purdue the last two years. Here is today's trivia question -- how many teams have lost to WKU in the pre-conference portion of the schedule and gone on to win the National Championship?

"Fixed" would imply that you made it better. You didn't. Find myself wishing blocking someone meant you never had to see that they've posted, anywhere, ever.

If Penn State has never played them, then is it meaningful?

WKU lost to CSUN and UNLV in the first weekend last year, USC in the first weekend in 2013, and both Louisville and Penn St. in 2012, and in those matches won a total of 1 set.
Sorry Dorothy, I don't buy that WKU is a terrible first weekend match-up.

Sorry Dorothy, I don't buy that WKU is a terrible first weekend match-up. And that's ok. It is of course my opinion that this isnt a good first match schedule, you and the coaches who think otherwise are also entitled to that opinion. For CSUN and UNLV it's a good match, there is upside, and no downside. PSU of course should never be given as an example of who they should or shouldnt play. You do at least give a basis for disagreeing which I also respect. I stand by why I wouldnt play WKU out of the gate of which I also gave a basis for. Reasonable people disagreeing, while making an argument as to why they feel that way. It's the Haley's Comet of Volleytalk.

This is an argument nobody can win. It's like closing school when it's snowing:
Argument A: Playing those cupcake teams is not going to do anything to prepare a team for the season. They need to play tough teams.
Argument B: It's crackers that team x (Illinois.....) is playing such a tough pre conference schedule. They'll end with a lot of losses and will have a tough time getting into the tournament.
