They did lose three key players to SPRI, but there were not their best players. They maintained their best OH (Robbie Murphy) who was the best player for them all year, including Nationals. Also were able to keep their starting middle, liberos, and backup rightside. From viewing their online roster, it seems they have added a couple new players from around the area. It will be interesting to see how this team adapts to their key losses. Hitmen 17s will NOT be a top team nationally, maybe locally. So Hitmen lost their starting setter Sean Farmer, Opposite Cameron Lily, OH Winkler, and a MH to SPVB. Hitmen returns their OH Murphy who is not their best option last year offensively. I would say their best player is Cameron Lily from last year. So who did they bring on to their 17s team? They return only 5 guys from the team last year. They can a setter from a terrible NVC team, and OH from a terrible Cyclones team, and 3 players that did not play club last year. You right they are going to be Awesome. hahaha. I'm interested to see how this team will do at the Palos Point Series along with MVC and Ultimate. I'm curious who will take the top midwest spot.

For what it's worth, 949 17s just beat Balboas 17-1 team pretty soundly. 25-13, 25-18

It's basically San Clemente's better players from last year and two of the best players from Balboa last year. They should be pretty strong this year. And even better next year as they will add two of the best players from the 18s.

I don't think you need to worry about the Midwest and East Coast Teams in the 2016 Gold Bracket for 17 Open, except maybe Pace.
I believe Hitmen 16s split up and left the club.
Hitmen 16's lost 3 players that all left for Sports Performance who were Cam Lilly (Opp), Sean Farmer (S), and Johnny Winkler (OH). Still maintained most of their core players from last year. Vanguard looked pretty good at Nationals last summer finishing in the silver bracket. Also, I feel as if MVC might have just had a bad National Tournament. They finished 2nd overall at the St. Louis qualifier. Ultimate lost their starting setter (staying in the 16's division because of age) and Club 1 will most likely be no factor at all this season. I agree with you on this one, Truth. Seems as if West Coast will be dominant, as always. Ultimate did lose their setter but they gained a new outside and a new rightside that should complete that team. Im interested to see if ultimate will improve through out the season, since they started out very strong last year but did not improve much over the year and seemed to be missing something.

I'm interested to see how much Jim Baker will improve. The kid was an absolute beast last year, but lacked in his serve-receive skills. If he can develop a good connection with their new setter and their new players are decent, Ultimate should have a good year at Midwest qualifiers.

I'm sorry to say I'm really not at liberty to say their reasons for leaving, I was told in confidence. I'm sure you could surmise the situation why one would leave in a situation like that.

Palos Point Series will be an interesting mix, to see how the top 17 teams (hitmen, pipeline, spri, ultimate, d1, mvc) can compete with all the 18's Also interested to see where the 18's teams will play out at Palos. Haven't heard much about Ultimate 18's this season, but they're always a contender. Sports Performance 18's will be interesting to see how all the new 17's can play alongside their 18's who were already on the team. Any other top 18's teams that will be attending Palos this year?

Sports Performance 18's will be interesting to see how all the new 17's can play alongside their 18's who were already on the team. Any other top 18's teams that will be attending Palos this year? I've been told that Blake Reardon (Joliet Catholic, formerly Uno 17-Elite) has moved over to Ultimate. With his addition, I can see Ultimate 18-Gold being a top contender - as usual - at Palos and locally. I was also told that Pipeline and NVC have combined their top 18s teams. I didn't see much of either team play as 17s, but I anticipate that they will be strongly competitive... I'd guess that the team to beat at most tournaments will be SPVB 18-Mizuno, and that SPVB 18-Runbird will also be strongly competitive. Haven't heard much about Adversity/D1, but I am sure that they will also be up there, as they had strong seasons as 17s. The Hitmen 18-Elite team should also be up near the top, though it is hard to gauge things before the first competition. November 7th can't come soon enough!

Sport Performance rosters are not on the website yet, but they are signed up for the Chicago qualifier as of today. They have eight teams signed up for the 18s open division, and an additional four teams signed up for the 16s open division. Their top two teams in 16s and top three teams in 18s should be very competitive.
