So, the one semifinal they choose to show on ESPNU is #1 USC vs #16 Creighton at 11pm ET. Instead of showing #7 PSU vs Hawaii at 8pm ET, ESPNU will be treating us to men's basketball (Stanford vs Akron).

I saw a while back that the latest match of the Regional Semifinals were to be televised. It just so happened that USC vs Creighton is in the San Diego match which is the latest time.

So...if our cable subscription doesn't include ESPNU, will the Regional Finals still be available for us? It'd make sense that if the semi-finals are ESPN3/free then the final would be as well. Anyone know for certain?

Anyone know for certain? I don't think that's how it works. ESPN3 and ESPNU are different channels. ESPN3 is available to anybody who gets ESPN. I believe you need to get ESPNU to be able to watch those games online (same goes for Longhorn Network and SEC Network).

Plan on downloading all the Tournament matches. Was hoping the Purdue Round 1 match would have been on BTN2GO. Was looking forward to watching that one. No LHN here. Question please. Are you still downloading the matches? I have all the ones I wanted from the 1st two rounds. But, I don't get any of the ESPN channels for the rest of them, & am wanting to see the UCLA matches. However many more they will play. I can usually find a ESPNU stream, but for ESPN3 I think I'm SoL.

Here is a change: This year not only is there no live sports event right before 1st Regional Final match, but there is a half hour between all of the matches with the "NCAA studio update show". Also, nothing live directly before the 1 ESPNU Regional Semi-Final(should be USC match) on Friday. Same goes all of for the Final Four matches.

The match I most want to see and the only one on ESPNU is USC v Creighton! Excuse me while I toilet paper my local Comcast office. Of course among the 200 channels I pay for - 7 of which I actually watch - ESPNU is not included. If there's no other option i'm going to be pissed.

ESPNU does come in the Comcast Sports Package (at least for me). If you really want to watch the USC-Creighton match and the four regional finals on Saturday, it might be worth calling and buying that package for a month.

Relax... every single match from now on will be on ESPN3... but only the first seven regional semi-finals will be on ESPN3 live (*).
All the others will be on an ESPN channel live and on ESPN3 on tape delay.
(*) Occasionally, Disney has been gracious and lifted blackouts of some matches that would normally be blacked out. If the match shows up in WatchESPN.com as a pending event without the locked key, that means they are planning to lift the blackout IN YOUR MARKET (people in different markets will see different combinations of blackouts). Note that events appearing live on ESPN3 can only be watched on mobile devices, AppleTV, etc if you have WatchESPN from your cable or satellite provider... desktop and laptop PCs and Macs do not require WatchESPN to watch ESPN3 content.
Note that the first regional final has usually been on ESPN3 live in Hawai'i and Alaska, as the blackout is driven by the local time of the viewer (and the potential for selling local advertisements on the ESPN channel on which the match appears). In general, events that are scheduled to start and finish before noon in a market are not blacked out there.

For me it is on the Digital Preferred tier, so it varies. In the past, Comcast has let me upgrade and then downgrade a day or two later, charging me only for the time I received the service.

I have Digital Starter so ESPN/ESPN2 but no News or U. Don't think it would be worth it to play around upgrading/downgrading just for one match. Obviously my issue isn't with NCAA but with the Queen of all Evil Corporations as well as the monopoly in television that is somehow allowed in a free market economy. But I appreciate your input.

I will be watching the regional finals on ESPNU using Sling TV. Sling (sling.com) offers an online Live TV package with sports, entertainment and news channels for $20/month. ESPNU is included in their Sports Extra package ($5/month). Sling offers a 7 day free trial including the Sports Extra package if you select it during registration. It does require a credit card for the trial but you can cancel online.
Viewing options include: TV (using Amazon Fire TV, Roku Player, Xbox One, Google Chromecast or Nexus Player) and Devices: iOS, Android, Mac and PC
Sling TV is targeted at people who want to cut their cable TV cord but still watch sports. I recently purchased a Roku SE which included a 2 week Sling TV free trial. I have Comcast Internet and cable service (ESPN, but not ESPNU) and signed up for the free Sling TV trial on Friday. The picture quality of Sling TV appears to be equivalent to what I see watching ESPN3.
