Nollan also recruited Bricio. Hopefully Haley has some good assistants to step up the recruiting game now that Nollan is gone.

Maybe Johnson got homesick...she is from Dayton, Ohio. Maybe she was close to the former A.C. who took the Grand Canyon job and couldn't stomach Mick without him around? It's interesting because the Pac-12 Network announcers during USC games always bellowed about how Johnson "recruited herself" to USC because it was her dream school. They told that story EVERY game.. I was going to say that too. All this talka about how much she loves the school and now she is leaving. Seriously all Mick has to do is to eat humble pie and stop being so stubborn not to let sand players play indoor. Kelly Claes is there and she was the top ranked indoor setter recruit two years ago

She's a really good setter too but mostly because she is just an incredible athlete. Hughes would be an unbelievable libero as well. USC would be in the national hunt if they could get those two to play indoor!

Did I miss a thread/posts about USC spring season? Anyone have info on if Reed played? Did they run 5/1 or continue with 6/2?

Wow. Johnson was a stud player. If not for Hayley Hodson bagging the Pac FOY, I would have predicted Johnson taking it. A huge blow to USC's chances this coming season.
She will be huge get by any team. Texas? Florida?

Mick is no fool. He asked Hughes to come play last season after her 2 year waiting period was up .
She turned him down to stay focused on beach and that worked out pretty well for USC.

Those girls want to win Olympic gold on the sand, playing indoor not going to help them get there. So as much as I'd love to see the dynamic duo indoors it isn't gonna happen.

Curious to see where Johnson ends up. Maybe Ohio? She is from there, after all.

Update on Baylee via Twitter: @keelyismyname: #USC women's volleyball soph. setter Baylee Johnson is currently NCAA ineligible and her status for fall is undetermined as of right now.

When I read an athlete is ineligible I automatically think they are behind in the number of courses with a passing grade. If Baylee can be eligible again by taking summer classes, why would they leave her name off the website roster. Her reasons for not being on the roster are still a mystery to me. I hope she resolves things by August camp.
What about beach players. Can someone play four years of beach volleyball for USC and retain four years eligibility for indoors.

There have been other players who were deficient enough in courses that they could not catch up over a summer, and were therefore ineligible for fall. I believe an academically ineligible player must pay their own tuition until they regain eligibility. Someone tell me if I am mistaken. If you play 4 years of beach volleyball, you could play one more year of indoor, since you have 5 years total to compete in sports, unless you have an exception.

Strangely (pun absolutely intended) enough, USC does have a S/RS who just finished up her beach career but has one more season of indoor eligibility left.

If you play 4 years of beach volleyball, you could play one more year of indoor, since you have 5 years total to compete in sports, unless you have an exception. This past season, USC had 2 players on their women's basketball team who became academically ineligible after playing in a couple of conference games. Coach Cynthia Cooper-Dykes was hopeful they would return later in the season but it never happened. And they were still listed on the roster. I believe one of the player's eligibility is now completed and the other has one more year left but don't know if she'll continue to play.
