Anyone able to catch a practice or two? Do you know who is playing Libero or MB2? Any freshmen look like they are going to set the Galen on fire? The Trojan starting lineup should be able to compete with anyone, but what's after that? SC typically serves well, and has a bundle of hitters, but defensive rotational players may be the key to the success of the season. I'm guessing Abril will be the starting L, but I thought Strange would start a few years ago as well. Let me (us) know what you saw if you have been able to check out some recent practices. Thanks

Thanks Best guess would be that Maddie Horin is MB2 or that Gross/Horin are pretty equal in terms of ability. Horin by all accounts is going to be very good. In the jersey, probably Abril with a slight edge over Jenna. Keep hearing that Kalen Owes is very good and that Weske is also pretty consistent in practice. Just gotta see what rolls out on Friday in Texas

Did Denny transfer in expecting to take the RS spot? Is there any chance Crouch is going to experiment with a 6-2 or 5-2? I assume not but what do I know?

I think it's a two-horse race for the L jersey, but have heard that Keila Barra is pretty impressive. Not just a walk-on practice player. I'll go on a limb and guess this is the lineup we see on Friday: S Lazaro L Bustamante OH1 Lanier OH2 Botkin MB1 Gross MB2 Horin OPP Baptista/Weske

Haven't heard anything about her being "unhealthy"

Haven't heard anything about her being "unhealthy" She didn't look right last year. Never heard exactly what was up. I'm hoping she is all good to go because she is so much fun to watch when she is on. Back issues and another concussion

She had some injury/back/issues and still put up over 4 kills/set. Hopefully she has a good senior year! Also, Abercrombie is the unsung hero of almost bringing USC to A point from the Final Four. She completely stopped Snyder until the rotations changed the matchup. And of course, her quick attacks behind gave Florida’s blockers all sorts of problems.

The mystery double on Leonard still stings.

Had plans of going to the Texas matches, but company is heading this way Thursday, so no joy. Always better to see in person than watch on TV. Thanks for the info.

Back issues and another concussion Those were the whispers, but I never heard confirmation. Those are both sketchy because recovery can be quick and full or linger for years for each of those. Hoping for the best for her this year. Botkin had issues as well, and neither she nor Lanier could put strong games together without multiple days rest. The San Diego match that ended their season was nearly hopeless going in. We should be able to tell if they are back to their dominating ways when they play the Longhorns. Both teams should be hyped for that one.

Strange played well on the sand, but wasn't able to transition back to hardwood. Hope this isn't the case for AB.

I got cha'SB, but I'm hoping her quickness doesn't get lost. I expect to see her targeted early on by various servers, so her passing ability will be clear right off the whistle. All that assumes she starts, but I haven't seen anything from people watching practices who say she is holding the first spot. A couple days from now we will know. Thanks for your help.
