Hammons and Owes very ineffective today. Maybe they should just play Schirmer and K. Smith instead of those two, or go to just one setter and simplify it. The coaching decisions are confusing to me. In the 5th set you have K. Smith come in for the first time to serve? The middle blockers really need to work on blocking better, and if they can't maybe Denny needs to be replaced by a different middle blocker. Sabrina Smith is very good at getting kills, so she was a bright spot. Hope they figure it out.

I'm just going to pop in here and say again the Mick Haley firing was the single worst college volleyball personnel decision I'm familiar with.

I believe USC fielded the oldest starting lineup in the history of college volleyball.
1 Junior (Weske) 1 Senior (Lazaro) 5 Grad Students (Botkin, Denny, Hammonds, S. Smith, Scully)

It's unfortunate that USC scheduled an uneven amount of games. We could have added a cupcake in the non-conference schedule and gave a better chance of making the tournament. There's a chance we could be sweating getting to .500. Hopefully that's not the case.

Not much traction in this thread for such an anticipated team. Did things not end up panning out with all the transfers?

Not much traction in this thread for such an anticipated team. Did things not end up panning out with all the transfers? Glass houses and stones … Wth?? That was an honest question…maybe I missed the match threads and there was better energy in there… Don’t be weird, i know it’s volleytalk but not everyone is out sniping with every comment. I felt like this was a very anticipated season for USC and I’m already reading comments insinuating wishing Mick Haley was still at the helm.

The just have a lot of new pieces so it’s a lot to work through. Maybe one transfer hasn’t done well yet …
