SC seems to always have the best jerseys—like not overly designed, always classic but not dated. I think two years ago was the year with the dark navy shorts? Yeah that was the best in the game I think. I don’t recall dark navy but they did wore some red ones.

Mater Dei a new feeder program for SC? It would make sense. They were National Champs last season. Mater Dei consistently produces top athletes in most sports programs but I would say in this case it’s the club Mizuno Long Beach. Both Coady and Ostevar play there and over the years Mizuno has been known for developing top players (Wong-Orrantes being one of them). ✌🏼

Wah wah… They're fantastic players too. But Dan O’Dell runs a whole different level of a program at Mater Dei.

HS season is short and nobody is recruiting volleyball players based on the high school they attend. Sure it’s a bonus to attend a big HS program but not necessary.

Batenhorst and Tuaniga will represent USC at the B1G Volleyball Media Day in two weeks These kinds of things just make me scratch my head. Of all the people Keller could pick to represent USC, he decides to pick a one and done transfer, who spent most of her career and allegiance at a rival Big 10 program....like, why?

Yeah, to be honest I'd be pissed if I were on the team and got picked over for a transfer who hasn't even played for the school yet...

I mean Indiana is sending Maple who hasn't even played a minute of indoor collegiately. But she does have a cool story so I'm on board with that.

I think picking Ally to go indicates the coach thinks she's a good representative to the public for USC and probably may indicate he's counting on her to be a big gun.
When Beason transferred to Nebraska, she was selected by the team as a team leader over a bunch of strong, loyal three year players. There's more to consider than years on the team IMO including: attitude, energy, leadership, respect of players, the player's imporatance to the coming year, the player's buy in to the coach's program, the face they present for future recruits or future transfers.

I went to watch the girls play at Creighton a couple of years ago. I believe I was the only non-family USC fan. When I spoke to the team a little, only Mia and Skylar talked and the rest of the girls were pretty shy. Maybe Ally was willing and the others didn’t want to. We don’t know.

Nebraska is sending Krause and Orr,and we know Orr isn’t going to supplant Reilly. So you are correct, what the coaching staff is thinking when they are selecting their teams representatives only they know.

Media day is not a day for picking the most skilled or senior players to represent the school. Instead, it’s about choosing the players with the best personalities that everyone knows to represent your school. I believe Keller and staff made a great choice!
