I'd add Mima Mirkovic to the conversation. An ACL tear set her back last year, but now is back and better than ever. Also, she is the best passing outside in the 2017 class. And, at almost 6'0" now and a great arm, she ability to be great attacker in an up-tempo system. Has she committed anywhere?

One thing I've noticed about 16 and 17... Penn State is awfully quiet in snagging these commitments.... not bringing them in like they used to.
Minnesota and texas have brought in some extreme talent in these classes.

Illinois 2017 recruit is made up of eight players. Megan Cooney (6-4 middle, Tecumseh, Kan.), Emily Hollowell (6-3 outside/opposite, Little Elm, Texas), Tyanna Omazic (6-2 middle/opposite, Olathe, Kan.), Lexie Smith (5-6 defensive specialist, Lucas, Texas), Marijke Van Dyke (6-1 outside/opposite, Munster, Ind.), Kylie Kuyava-DeBerg (6-4 outside/opposite Hudson, Iowa), Morgan O’Brien (5-6 defensive specialist, Libertyville, Illinois), and lastly Kylie Bruder (5-11 setter, Lauderdale, Fla).

Back to McLellan... those of you (especially Husker fans) who haven't seen her, make a point to do so. Cook is talking about her like she's a future Olympian. A 6'4" do-everything middle. FWIW, there are 2 Husker commits on that K2 18's team (Hames, the setter, is a 2018). There is also a younger Hames, a 2019 OH, who will be one of the top recruits in the country in THAT class. Yes, Knoxville. Go figure. Keep in mind that an assistant came from that club. Setter is real deal with plenty of pedigree. But overall I think you are being force feed what you want to hear. All three talented...setter is a difference maker. There's no reason to force feed anything regarding McClellan. You won't find a more athletic middle given her height and wingspan in the 2017 class. She's a physical talent. Penn State and Florida really wanted her.

Yes and no, there are still some high profile recruits yet to commit, but I would be surprised if these classes weren't at least top 5. I think Texas as of now anyways is a pretty safe bet for #1, bringing in players who I think will be the top outside (and top overall recruit), a top 2 middle, and a top 2 setter

There are two teams you didn't name that have a good shot at landing three top-15 players each. In most years that's a top-3 class.

Check back in a couple of years and let me know who is making a difference at the next level. The kool aide ... It taste so good!

I'd be interested in seeing a link to a written or video source where Coach Cook said something like that about McClellan. He's not allowed to comment about her until she signs the NLI. On the one hand, here: Husker volleyball recruit could play at ‘Olympic level’On the other, I stand corrected, it was not Cook, it was Hames, K2 Club Director (and father of the other, aforementioned, 2018 Husker commit).

She's long, extremely quick, has plenty of untapped potential based on her relative inexperience playing volleyball, and Nebraska, Penn State, and Florida, all fought hard to get her. I'm thinking all three of those programs know elite talent when they see it.

Well there you have it! The director of the club that is trying to get her recruited to Nebraska says she could play on the Olympic team. Makes sense to me. All kidding aside, she is fantastic player, I was just trying to slow the roll on the uber hype coming out of Knoxville for you Huskers. Very good player? Yes. Tons of upside? Yes. Top 15 ? I don't think so. Olympic team? Ok, whatever you say coach/director. And speaking of Florida, they did take an uber hype middle from that program just last year. Not sure MW would bite so quickly next time.

I saw her carry her team in the Tennessee State tournament, where she had something like 35 kills in 60 attempts. I will try to make an effort to see her in Atlanta at the Beast event in February (I think they'll be there) and at Bluegrass. I don't doubt the possibility that she'll be a top 15 recruit next year, but realistically, it doesn't much matter what I (we) think. Her path lies before her, and she'll have every opportunity to maximize her potential.
