Seems like time for a whole new generation of Beach teams for both Men and Women for the next quad. I would hope so. Isn't this the worst results for the beach teams ever? (In the Olympics) Admittedly from a outside perspective and my limited following of the Beach game, I think these "poor" finishes were a possibility from the beginning of the tourney. Am I correct in saying this, based on FIVB results the past years? At least the margin of the USA dominance had certainly closed or slid down. I would assume with the women's college Sand game that has to help increase the pool of talent to draw from, which is good.?

It would be interesting to see how Merete Lutz and Hayley Hodson would do as a team. They have not paired up yet for Stanford on the beach but Lutz went 12-5 this year with Halland McKenna while Hodson was named to the 2nd team All Pac 12 team. You would definitely have no lack of hitting or blocking with that combo, it would depend on all of the other variables though but it appears that both have adjusted nicely to the sand so far (at least collegiately) Another interesting connection would be Emily Maglio (Hawaii) with Lutz or Hodson. However Kelly Claes and Sarah Hughes went undefeated for USC this year at 36-0 and Nicolette Martin and Allie Wheeler went 31-4 for USC 2016 Beach all american team www.avca.org/awards/all-regional-all-america-awards/collegiate-beach-all-america-team.htmlI think the US will be set for many years in beach and has a great foundation that is growing faster than any other sport

Emily Maglio is Canadian, so that might not work for the Olympics!

Emily Maglio is Canadian, so that might not work for the Olympics! Whoops! Did not realize that However to be fair, there are a lot of people in the olympics that are not actually from the country they are playing for, look at the Qatar men's VB pair for a prime example

The World is by far the absolute best it's ever been in Beach Volleyball, especially on the men's side. You look all around FIVB and there are strong teams with strong finishes where both players are 25-under. It's pretty ridiculous and it's just going to get better. Big concern of where USA men's will go from here. US women's the future is already now with Claes/Hughes. US Women's is going to be absolutely rock star solid with 5 years with probably no signs of slowing down.

This is all Sbilo's fault. Maybe I jinxed them by predicting bronze. I predicted they would not medal.
