I'm not discounting China. If they just decide to ride Zhu (say, in a do-or-die knockout match when they don't need to worry about saving her for a long tournament), I think they win today. But the setting and Opp play definitely raised concerns for me today. Yeah, I suppose you are right, its prudent to not underestimate China. Although I think Team USA is aware of that and will be fully alert against China. They know Zhu Ting on a good day can help Chna beat any team. Still, given their mental issues on display against Netherlands, let's just say I am putting my money on the US to prevail. China got this "deer-in-headlights" look against Netherlands. If they fall to pressure against a so-so team like Netherlands, they got no chance against a stronger team like US. And given they lost the first match, they will be under added stress to win the later matches, but given China's poor ability to handle pressure, they may well keep underperforming (and even be eliminated before reaching the knock-out stage). So yes, US should not get complacent, but I think we should have more confidence in them to prevail, at least against China. complacent haha did you see how we played today? the us is not even at a level that high that we can even use that word. the us better get it together.

Well, I didn't say the US did great against Puerto Rico. But maybe they don't have to? PR is not exactly a volleyball powerhouse after all. The US can afford to make mistakes against PR. I'm sure the US will bring their "A" game against China, Russia, Serbia and of course, Brazil.

I mean, not everyone played cleanly today. I thought the Netherlands looked the best on the first day

But they won in the end, right? So what if it was neck-and-neck, that happens. The fact US won indicates they are superior in the end. I think the US made mistakes, but they can afford it against PR.
