Quote from article: "Victoria Prince is a believer in fate. She thinks her volleyball path to paradise originated with a broken leg suffered nearly two years ago. As fate would have it, she would ultimately heal in Hawai'i."
Didn't she heal in Washington, prior to arriving in Hawaii? Oh, it's just artistic license...

Bleh. Hazing sucks as a rite of passage. Most individuals understand that hazing can be used as a rite of passage or a way to include someone into an organization. However, you get some selected individuals (fraternity and sorority dorks, high schoolers with self-esteem problems, military people who get drunk and decide to prey on lower ranking people, etc.) who take hazing way too far. Here's a good example: www.cnn.com/2003/US/Midwest/05/07/hs.hazing/The sad/ironic part about some of these organizations/groups that haze out of an (ignorant) sense of "tradition" is that they justify it by saying that it builds trust and camaraderie - which in the end is just BS. That said, I was part of a fraternity in college that took a stand against such practices - and it was ultimately a better experience for all us guys who were a part of it. Without the hazing, we actually did trust and respect each other. Go figure...
